This vacuum does all I intended it to. I'm VERY pleased with it. I purchased my first one a few weeks ago. It was for my daughter who was going off to college and would be sharing an apartment with 3 other girls. I did not want to purchase an expensive vacuum. I saw this Dirt Devil for under $20 and decided to give it a try. I tested the vacuum out at home and ended up loving it for little jobs around the house. So I bought myself one. First of all, this will NOT do the job of a full size and full powered vacuum but then again, I don't think that is it's purpose. I purchased this mainly to use in my laundry room and kitchen in place of a broom and dustpan. I keep my cat's litterbox in the laundry room and she manages to track litter from that room and in to the hallway. I would constantly sweep up but it seemed I never got ALL the litter up and was always stepping on some leftover piece. The kitchen was also a room with lots of "stuff" on it's floor. Leaves from outside, crumbs, etc. I also felt I missed things. Most likely, the broom just didn't catch everything and debris would be left on the floor. This vacuum works great for those areas. The vacuum is very lightweight (about 1-2 lbs.) and easy to carry around. It's a lot better than pulling out the Dyson vacuum which is big and heavy. I use the Dirt Devil every day in the laundry room and kitchen. One added bonus (for me anyhow) is that I can clean my floor mats and rugs with this thing too. The Dyson sucked those rugs right up and I'd end up unraveling rug strings from the beater bar! So to sum it up, this Dirt Devil vacuums my throw rugs, it cleans the tile floors great (it gets up all those annoying bits of litter) and it even works well on our carpet. Admittedly, the Dyson does a much better job on carpet and is a lot more powerful, but for little jobs when you don't want to lug out a heavy, bulky, full sized vacuum, this really does the job well. For costing less than $20 and for using it every day, I love this little vacuum. It is also very easy to clean. When I take out the filter cup I just wipe it with a used dryer sheet and it takes all the lint off. Bigger things that get picked up like the litter pieces just get dumped from the container. I have not tried it as a hand held dust buster type vacuum but I'm sure it would work just as well since it works great as an upright. And lastly, my daughter also loves the vacuum. Cleans up her bathroom floor and even picks up stuff from the shag carpet that is in her bedroom. Read more
Figlet—November 30, 2015
The evening at my house typically goes like this: I zombie up the stairs from work and vegetate, the kids grudgingly do their jobs after being reminded thirty-seven thousand times, and the mister comes home and gripes about the substandard quality in carrying out the two small chores allotted to each child. Look, man. I am chronically ill and await surgery and unless I want an intervention for an aneurysm as well, the last thing I need to hear is this four-wall gripe fest. The largest issue here is sweeping. We are in a two-story condo with wood and tile floors. I don't know how in the dickens the floor needs swept so often, but it does. It's like my tweens are composed entirely of crumbs and granola. Tired of this issue, I decided to purchase this. It hasn't been but a couple weeks, but the novelty of a metamorphosing floor sweeper over a broom is enough to make the kids enjoy cleaning the floors. Because of the ways that it can be used, they even volunteered to vacuum both sets of stairs in the front of the house, as well as atop the baseboard. The baseboard! The magnitude of this situation is not lost on me. I digress, yet again. This little thing, especially for the price, is a trooper. It works very well. Yeah, the filter needs to be addressed more often than other hand vacs or comparable vacuums, but I can make peace with that when considering the versatility. It can be irritating, but I don't live in a sprawling estate and chances are that you do not either, so the walk to the trash can is not far. I should also note that I do not own any pets, so only have to address the massive amounts of hair that I personally shed. This miracle stick of wonder has been used on a couple of Persian runners, hardwood floor, tile, and granite. Please don't tell anyone, but I used it to suck up all the remnants of my cooking messes on the stove. I am a messy chef, and if I can manage to make dinner, I sure do not have the energy to actually clean the stovetop. Using the wand attachment, this makes light work of such things. It is very lightweight in any form in which it may be used, and surprisingly quiet. Considering the price point, I expected some corpse-waking noise. None such here! Perhaps you would like your children to vacuum the hordes of granola and trail mix on the back floor of the car? This also does that! Amazing, I tell you Considering how well it has performed, I do not expect that it will die on us on the near future. In the event that it does, this puppy is cheap enough to keep a back stock in the closet. This has to be the best purchase I have made this year, and I most certainly recommend it. My littles treat it like it is a Transformer, so definite plus for being versatile. I will take anything that provides my kids with enough motivation to do their jobs and enjoy (?!) dong so. Read more
