Mother of The M’s—November 29, 2025
Let me preface by saying that I have one of the heaviest of “heavy chewers,” EVER. If a toy lacks quality, he will destroy it in a matter of moments. It is never a matter of if but merely when I will be picking up pieces. Having said this, I feel like I have ordered him every product under the sun and haven’t found many that survive more than a single play session, no matter the price or how well reviewed it is. When I ordered this one I selected the large option (though he’a only 55 lbs) and anxiously awaited its arrival. The ball appeared sturdy and fairly unremarkable. It’s a flat green rubbery material. The construction is solid and whilst the material is dense, it’s surprisingly much lighter than I anticipated. I haphazardly tossed it on the floor and noticed it offered a little bounce but the magic comes from the flat sides and rounded corners. In lieu of rolling, it kind of wobbles across the floor. My doggo was enthralled and was on it in an instant! He quickly attacked it and ran to the next room to review it for himself. He gnawed at it. He attempted to pry at the opening to no avail. He then tossed it into the air and chased it about as it bounced and wobbled across the floor. It kept his attention for some time before he grew weary and laid it down. However, the moment I opened the treats and dropped a few in, he was at it again. He rolled it and clawed at it, as he worked to claim his rewards. As a dog mom, watching my guy play like a pup again, was wonderful! Seeing him engaged and thinking, makes my heart happy too. After using it for 15-20 minutes, the ball was still whole, which says a lot about the quality of this thing. It had a couple dimples and dings but it held up to some serious play time. Now that we’re a month in, I can say that I’m not fearful to leave him with this toy anymore. I know that it’s durable and safe for my boy. It was a bit costly but for us to get to use it more than once…makes it totally worth it! This is a must have, in my opinion! 15/10 would recommend again and again. Read more

The media could not be loaded. First, the size… I have big, 100+ pound dogs. You’d be surprised what can end up as a choking hazard. This thing is PERFECT. Big enough to hold in their mouth but there is absolutely no way they can choke on this. No way. That is obviously always the first concern. As I point out in all of my dog toy reviews, I have created a new category above and beyond “indestructible”. I call this category EOWYN PROOF because one of my smaller dogs, at 70 pounds, has the bite force of a T-Rex, the intelligence of a velociraptor, and once she decides it’s time, she goes into full destruction mode and few toys stand a chance against her. She’s patient. She’s determined. She’s downright obsessive. She will take even the strongest Kong toy apart one millimeter at a time, if necessary. IT’S IMPORTANT TO NOTE that the Penta toy never claims to be indestructible. And yet it is waaaaay more durable and has lasted longer than countless toys that do make that claim. Amazing. It’s been a few days and there’s only one tiny broken piece at the opening that she picked at and managed to get thru. A few days… With a dog that will take a so-called indestructible toy, laugh at it and destroy it in a matter of minutes. Haha. The Penta ball is still going strong and my 100 pound Aslan (in video) has adopted it as his favorite. The design is simple, but smart. The flat sides prevent it from immediately rolling under furniture. It’s easy to load with whatever treats you want, and the internal baffles prevent it from all falling out immediately. Those baffles will indeed make the ball difficult to clean, I suspect. But do my dogs care… Of course not. I did put some kibble stirred up with a bit of peanut butter into it, and when my dog was done with it, it did not even smell like peanut butter anymore. Which tells me that the dog got it all out. All in all, I am very impressed by this toy. I cannot emphasize enough how many dog toys we go through around here. There are extreme chewers and then there is Eowyn. Only the best of the best survive her for more than an hour. So THANK YOU Penta ball! 5-stars in every conceivable category. Read more

This ball really is great for heavy chewers. It is also fun to throw because of the size and the heft of the ball. I've used it for filling with peanut butter to keep my dog busy for a LONG LONG time and when the dog thinks he's gotten everything, the ball is easy to clean (soaking it makes it easy and the rubber construction helps that). Because it is light green, it blends in with grass or greenery kind of easily but my dog can still spot when it's moving or finds it by scent. Read more

The ball is very solid, and nice and heavy. It seems like it would be plenty durable, even with a bigger dog. However it’s either poorly designed, or I’m using it wrong. We typically put something like kibble or smaller milk-bones in a ball like this to keep our dog entertained for a few minutes. But with this ball, there is almost nothing between the inside and the outside. So within a couple of taps, the entire contents of the ball have emptied. Maybe if you had something much larger and oddly shaped, it would work better, but I can’t think of anything. Read more

Our puppy enjoys this interactive treat ball, which dispenses treats fairly easily. The ball itself can be played with separately from the treat dispenser. Made of high-quality materials. Note: the size is slightly smaller than expected, comparable to a standard tennis ball. Read more
