I bought it on an amazon lightning deal, 2 collars and 1 controller for something like $55 and it is the best $55 I've spent when it has come to my husky. Huskies are one of the most stubborn breeds because of how smart they are. They won't do things unless they're getting something in return (aka treat motivated) but they are also escape artists. With this collar, I have trained my husky to walk next to me OFF-LEASH without ever having to shock him. He has only received one shock throughout the 4 and a half months we've had this product and it was in the beginning of his off leash training when he was almost hit by a car. I gave him a quick shock on LOW (less than 15/100) and he yelped and ran back to me (keep in mind that this is a 70 lb husky, he could really feel 15/100 so I have since lowered the setting to 10/100). For the most part, even at a dog park with lots of distractions, a beep will get him to come back to me. A vibrate will stop him in his tracks and he'll come running to me. I haven't ever shocked him at the dog park but his jerk-reaction to the vibrate is enough for him to know he's not supposed do what he's doing. Anyway, this is a great training tool and it allows you to go hiking, running, biking with your dog off leash (because a leash would make it dangerous) but still gives you the ability to call your dog back whenever you need. I also live on the west coast in a beach city and this collar has seen the ocean a LOT. I have never had a problem with it getting wet and its battery life is great. I'm not sure what other collar's battery life should be but on a full charge, it'll last me about 2-3 weeks of usage (for approximately 2 hours worth of walks/runs/park time per day). Obviously it won't last as long if you're constantly beeping, vibrating and shocking but that isn't what this collar is for. Instead of using the "beep" as a warning, we use it similar to a clicker. When I unboxed the collar, I charged it up and strapped it on him. For the first 30 mins, I would beep once in a while and immediately give him a treat. This ensures that he knows "beep" = treat and since he's wearing the collar, he'll always hear it regardless of how far away I am. Also this changes the mindset of the collar - it isn't just a behavior correction tool but also a treat indicator, so my dog won't run away at the sight of it. The collars itself: I haven't tested out the "330" yard range but I know it works well within 250 yards. The 'waterproof' works as far as I know, but I've never dropped it into the bottom of the ocean and fished it back up. The "collar" is a weird plastic that you'll have to cut for length but it works if you need it to be hydrophobic. The battery life is great since you don't actually use it much. Read more

We absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this dog training collar. We have a Australian shepherd who had some bad habits.... like not listening when we call him and he will run down the street like a crazy dog and also barking ..... We have a acre of land so anytime any one of our neighbors rides their mowers along the fence line my dog is running along side barking like a maniac and did not listen to us to stop and come in. He'd just run the other direction and we couldn't catch him. So we started looking for a training collar. This one in particular was recommended to us by a friend and I am so glad it was. We put the collar on our dog, sat out on the back porch and waited. It was only a matter of minutes and he started to run to the back corner of the property and started to bark at the neighbors mowing. We hit JUST the tone and it stopped him in his tracks. He looked around and started to run again towards the noise so we hit the tone again and he stopped, ran back to us and sat by our feet. It was crazy how quick it worked. We did not have to use the shock or vibration modes at all. We did not have to yell - we just said good boy and he sat with us! I prefer not to use the shock ever and we have owned this for a few months now and STILL haven't had to. The tone is all we needed. So one day we thought while we were working in the front yard we'd try it in out on the dog without a leash. I was very nervous thinking he would take off and bolt. Well he started to run down the driveway - we hit the tone - he came running back to us wagging his tail. He just sat by us while we were working in the yard. So unbelievable - can't believe how quickly and effortlessly this worked for us. I have had to use it barely five times and my dog now listens WITHOUT the collar and comes back to use wagging his tail every time. BUY THIS! You won't regret it. We do take it off the dog so as not to bother his neck with the probes when it isn't needed and to charge it. Just make sure when you charge it and go to put it back on the dog that you turn it back on. That was our mistake and he took off running, and we hit the tone button - and we wondered why he wasn't coming back - well it was charged but not ON - so we learned a lesson.... Still can't say enough good about this. Who needs to spend lots of money on dog training - this collar is the BOMB! My dog does well with just the beeper, sometimes he gets a little distracted and I can easily change it to vibrate. We do not use shock because he has learned to listen to the beeping noise to determine if he is doing something inappropriate. I love the multiple strength setting for vibrate and shock, just in case I accidentally change the mode to shock, my dog wont feel it since it is at "0". The range is pretty far, I've only tried as far as 200 feet and it worked I've bought this collar twice. The first one lasted almost 3 years, not too shabby for a $40-$50 item. It stopped taking a charge so I bought 2 this time. It is perfect for dogs who love the water, if your dog is anything like mine (wanderer when off leash) this collar will work. There is a certain way to train the dogs with this retainer. I know a person who used it everytime the dog did something, which made the dog ignore the different settings. I would suggest having this petrainer as a back up to your normal discipline routine. My dog thinks of it as his way out to some adventure, whether it's the park, lake, or fenceless front yard. He sees it and he is overly excited. ***If you buy it, please test it out for a few days so you can test out the battery life on the dog and on standby. I've had to replace one due to not holding a charge. They were great and sent me a new one right away. I though I would have had to wait but they sent one as soon as I reported it. Great customer service. Read more
