Typical Castile soaps can leave my skin dry and ashy. This soap has a very mild scent along the lines of vanilla or coconut - I guess that’s the shea - and it’s more moisturizing than a regular Castile which strips the oils but doesn’t replenish moisture. I know people use this for hair and clothes. I have dry curly hair so I might try this as a shampoo but for now I’ve just been using it as a body soap and have enjoyed it. I still need a body oil for complete moisture. I prefer this over most bar soaps and it’s gentler than the more heavily perfumed commercial body washes which can be harsh on my sensitive skin even if moisturizing. Read more

My primary care provider recommended liquid black soap for my skin problems and it has done wonders for my so far. My once bumpy, rough arms and thighs (Keratosis pilaris) are now smooth. It was noticeably better after one shower (been using it a few weeks now). I use it all over and it has improved the skin on my face as well. Smoother smaller pores (surprisingly). I had a hard time getting all the dead dry skin off my face (makes makeup look pretty nasty). It's not a miracle but it is very effective and super gentle at the same time. It does not lather as much as other soaps but it works so well that I don't care. It smells nice and is not over powering. I hate strong perfume smells in my bath products. My whole household is using it now. If your having skin issues I would recommend trying this soap. I plan to thank my PC when I see her. Non-irritating and moisturizing. So far, this particular batch is more watery than the bottles I'd previously bought. It also has a stronger scent (it does dissipate quickly) whereas none of the other bottles ever did. Not sure if it's the batch or if the company changed the product. Read more

I'm a hobby machinist, builder and mechanic. I'm also ancient and have dry skin issues, especially in the winter months. This liquid soap cuts the dirtiest greasiest grime much better than products made expressly for the purpose and at the same time almost completely eliminates the need to follow each use with a hand lotion to prevent finger splits. Getting through a winter using GoJo to cut the grime, even with immediate application of any lotion I've ever tried (a LOT of them), requires half an hour every evening and sometimes mid-day as well of gluing the splits closed. That's all history with this soap. And on top of that, it's nearly scentless! Only a light scent that fades quickly. I'll be buying more. Pat Read more
