3rd Dyson and so far so good

The only complaint that I have is that you have to hold down the button instead of just pushing it once for on and once for off. When you are older, this can be a problem. I have to switch hands every so often to keep my fingers from seizing up. I'm not taking a full point off because of this but my review would actually be 4.5. It really cleans great though and since we have a dog that sheds horribly and this vacuum keeps up with it. Read more

Wife is happy.

I thought I would show my wife that I could buy her a better vac than Dyson so I bought her the Tineco Pure One. I was wrong, hate that vac. Now I will have to eat that money and use it in the basement. I bought the Dyson vac to make her happy and she loves it. I thought it might be too big for her but she has no problem using it. Wish I had bought this vac first. You can really tell it has a lot of power when you are using it. I would recommend this vac. Read more

Design Flaws — Avoid this Model

I’d stay away form this model. I’ve owned several Dysons and always kept them for years and was generally satisfied with their value, even given the comparatively high price. However, this model has been a dud for me. I’ve had it for 14 months…two months past warranty coverage, sadly and it’s completely dead. It worked OK until recently, as far as it had decent suction and is light enough to be portable. But it was constantly clogging and shutting itself off, due to what I would describe as a design flaw. It has a very small intake hole from the suction arm to the tank where debris is stored. I have wool rugs and the fibers were constantly clogging this tiny intake hole. Every time, you have to pop off the suction arm, empty the tank, and reach inside to pick fibers out of the tiny intake hole. The battery doesn’t last long, especially on max power. The suction arm button sticks a lot when I’m trying to disconnect it from the main body of the vacuum to empty the debris. Very annoying. The button is just cheap and doesn’t work well. And now, after 15 months, it just won’t turn on at all. No clear cause for the complete failure. I’ve done some trouble shooting—the charging cable is fine. The battery appears to be fine. It blinks blue when plugged in. But the LCD screen won’t power on to turn the vacuum on. This vacuum was like $450-$500 on sale at Costco. And I think it’s already dead after maybe 20 or 30 uses over about a year. I don’t think it covered by warranty, but even if it were, I’d still consider it to be a dud and a bad value for the price.
