4 1/2 stars rounded up to 5. The e.l.f. Bright + Brew-tiful eye cream arrived in a well-labeled box, but know that there wasn’t any safety seal except the untaped box itself and the jar’s lid. Helpful “What it does”, “How to use”, “Certified fair trade factory”, and “Clean + Kind” info is listed (vegan, cruelty free, clean, and non-comedogenic for the win!). Ingredients are listed on the bottom of the box. The jar’s bright orange color matches the vitamin C/brightening function and looks good. Elf is a trusted brand, so I was looking forward to using this eye cream, and after using it for two weeks I’ve been very happy with this brightening/illuminating cream. Jars aren’t my favorite, but the 0.52 oz / 15 g jar was large enough to easily dip my ring finger into the cream. This eye cream is lightweight, and it was easy to gently apply (and to add a bit more if I wanted more illumination). The cream had no scent to my nose, it absorbed quickly on my combination skin (not all creams do), and it played well with my other products. I get dark circles when I don’t sleep well, but I don’t use an under eye concealer, and I liked this eye cream on day 1 because it immediately brightened / illuminated my under eye area without being obvious or too much. The cream felt cool and I felt like I could feel the ingredients working. A 3% caffeine blend, several moisturizers, silicone, mica/titanium dioxide, and a stable form of vitamin C make for a moderately moisturizing, brightening formula that also helps blur fine lines. The amount of vitamin C isn’t listed, so that’s an unknown, but I’m guessing it’s a lower percentage since this cream is used on the delicate eye area and my skin, which is reactive, didn’t experience any irritation or issues. So, I’m not sure how brightening it will be long term, but I’m happily using it for all of the immediate effects. For $13 this jar will last a long time, so it’s a great value. Unfortuantely this cream really irritated my eyes, so I had to stop using it. On the plus side, it was creamy and seemed to moisturize well, but as soon as I put it on my eyes started watering and the skin became irritated. I've never had this happen before, so it was really disappointing. I unfortunately won't be buying again. Read more
