UPDATE: 5 months later, this vacuum is still going strong! Zero issues, very handy, and does an amazing job of cleaning my home with shedding dogs. One feature that is fantastic which I did not mention earlier, is the ability to easily remove/clean the roller. Dyson never made anything easy. I referred my friends (also Dyson owners) to this vacuum and they are loving it as well :) I have had Dyson vacuums (2 of them) for the past 15 years. I have 3 large dogs that shed a lot and dark hardwood floors that show everything. I am a bit OCD when it comes to a clean house, so I vacuum daily (as well as I have a Roomba that runs daily). Though my floors looked clean after I vacuumed, the Roomba would find all sorts of hair and dirt that the vacuum had missed. My last Dyson (which is only 2 years old) would take forever to vacuum up hair or dirt (I had taken it to the Dyson repair center and they couldn't find anything wrong with it). I was looking at buying another Dyson but they are expensive, so I started looking at other options. My options were limited, as I needed a 35-foot cord (I have a large house) and not many vacuums have that long of a cord (and even Dyson only offers a 35- foot cord on some models). I saw his Eureka and the price was right, so I thought I'd give it a chance. WOW! I've only had it for a few days but damn, I'm impressed. It sucks up dirt and hair in seconds and I only have to make one pass (unlike the Dyson where I would have to make multiple passes). The head is not as wide as my Dyson so I thought it would take me longer to vacuum, but it actually takes me less time since I only have to make one pass over an area. I also love that the Eureka is considerably less heavy than the Dyson, since I have multiple floors, and carrying the vacuum up and down the stairs is a workout. The ONLY con (which probably won't affect most people) is I use the hose and wand on all the stairs. The Dyson hose and wand were connected, so it took just a second to pull it off the Dyson and get to work. The Eureka is not constantly connected, so it is a bit of a hassle (but really not that big of a deal) that I have to connect the hose and wand, to vacuum the stairs. If you want a vacuum that is better than Dyson but 1/4 of the price, go with this Eureka! Read more

The auction and brush system for picking and sucking up pet hair is wonderful,But if you are looking for a long term quality piece of equipment this is not it. One of the small wheels that help it roll smoothly across the floor keeps falling off and getting sucked up into canister. The plastic sheath over power cord is of cheap plastic that got chewed down to the cloth fibers surrounding wiring melted off with getting accidentally ran over for maybe 5 seconds before I could turn it off. It smells of hot plastic at times. Okay, that was the bad stuff. Overall I gave it a 3 because it does have some awesome suction and with the HEPA filter system I am getting more deep seated yuk out of my carpet that shampooing doesn't even pick up. Picking up dog hair that my Dyson didn't touch (regular Dyson (yellow) and not pet-hair version (purple)). But I am totally amazed and sold with it at this time due to it keeping my air quality much better as I live in a very dusty desert town. I would try another brand or improved quality one next just because I'm unsure how long this one will last. I absolutely love this vacuum! I did days of research before deciding to purchase this one. This is my second eureka vacuum. My first one lasted over 10 years and worked wonderfully until the day it completely stopped. It was a different model so I was a little hesitant about this one. It arrived earlier than expected. The product is amazing. If you have pets or kids, I highly recommend this vacuum. It's lightweight, easy to handle and easy to clean. The suction is great. I have two dogs and two cats. Even though they are short-haired animals, they tend to shed a lot when the seasons change. They have white and gray hair so of course it gets everywhere and shows up on everything. It is so annoying! But this vacuum will definitely take care of all of that. The pet attachment works great. This vacuum gets all of the white hair off of my red oriental rug and that is something I love! This vacuum is so easy to use and does such a good job that my two kids actually take it from me just because they want to vacuum. They will volunteer to vacuum for me. There was literally a waiting line to have a turn using the new vacuum after I tested it out. They have both said they agree it is a great vacuum, the suction is great, lightweight and it's super easy to use. It is definitely a hit in this house. I love this vacuum! I did have to get a replacement after a few days because the filter cover kept falling off. But Amazon sent a whole replacement vacuum right out before I even returned the first one. It got here in 3 days. As far as the vacuum goes, it is really a great unit. The suction is first rate. It steers so easily. The extra long cord is a plus. I really love the pet turbo brush for my furniture. It is like an extra little motor! It is easy to empty and it can hold a lot of dirt and hair without losing suction. The multi angle adaptor fits the hose and tools so you can get to even the hard to reach areas to clean. It comes with a 5 year warranty. I bought the additional 2 year extended warranty.
