This is the real deal. Beware of cheaper filters!
There are a lot of other cheaper filters on the market that claim certifications (there are different types of certifications), but be sure to actually look up what certifications the filter is listed for. The cheaper ones only certify against taste and odors. They do nothing to prevent other harmful contaminants (such as lead and mercury) from being filtered out. There's a reason why they are cheaper, they don't filter the water as well. This is also one of the only officially licensed filter replacements for my fridge, so that helps keep from putting myself and family at risk of drinking contaminants that the cheaper filters don't remove. Replacement filter for my Kitchen Aid refrigerator, this filter works perfectly well.
As stated in the title, I'm using this filter as replacement for the refrigerator interior filter. Actually, I asked for help from a friendly close neighbor who is much better than I am at locating the correct item for products that require good technical knowledge and skill to find. Filter did not fit in by 2004 Kitchen Aid refrigerator (KTRC22EMBT01) as promised.
Filter did not fit in by 2004 Kitchen Aid refrigerator (KTRC22EMBT01) as advertised. After removing the old one, this new one when inserted could not go in all the way and even pusng a little, it could not be turned into position. I didn't want to force too much for fear of breaking the plastic cap/cover. I had bought a few years ago, so I had a stockpile ofEvery Drop Whirlpool Water replacement filters. The boxes a quite the same in appearance to the 2019 filter I just received (see pictures). I took a picture of the shape of the engagement points at the front of the filter (see attached pictures). They are close in shape, but obviously not close enough to fit in and be turned. I then tried another vendor on Amazon for their EveryDrop by Whirlpool EDR6D1 Refrigerator Water Filter 6 (which costs only $12 vs $40 for this one) and it fit right in with no real effort. Read more
