Very soft. They have plenty of give to them for us with heavy legs that swell. I bought them to wear to bed. I have tried many times to wear socks to bed to help with pain in my ankles and feet. These long leg warmers are excellent! My fourteen year old daughter took them and immediately began wearing them around the house. They really are long enough to pull up over her knees while still keeping her heel in the slot created for that purpose, and she’s tall. These are very versatile also because you don’t have to use the heel slot. You can pull the foot part up to rest above the ankle like most leg warmers. These remind me of the type of leg warmers that dancers use. My daughter loved how they were actually warm. They are of high quality, they fit well, and I’m very pleased that I ordered these. These leg warmers from FGZ are nice. However, they either need to have full socks or nothing at all. I guess there is a benefit to having the stirrup. It keeps your leg warmer in place instead of it riding up. My problem is that I already wear thick socks with my boots and the stirrup is knitted material so it's thick and bulky too. These are kind of a backup, but I usually wear the thigh high socks that I have instead of these because of that. If you have room for the bulky stirrup then go for it.
