I bought two of these for my husband's shoes and have used them on about 6 pairs since I received them 3 months ago. One of my best investments, as they make a huge difference for my husband between pain and comfort in all types of shoes - leather dress shoes to athletic shoes. The wood is beautiful and smooth - they slide easily into the shoes. The inserts for bunions and such are sturdy metal. I use a mixture of 70% Isoprophyl Alcohol & water with a cotton ball instead of buying a spray bottle. Works well to relax the leather/fabric before inserting the FootFitters. I just discovered a split on one of the FootFitters today and received an apologetic email from the company less than 2 1/2 hours after I emailed them, saying they are sending out a replacement (this this review). Quality product and quality customer service. It's evident they're proud of their products and want customers to be happy. I sure am! Support these folks! They're the real deal! That's hard to find these days. Read more

This shoe stretcher is a little more than the others but I ordered most of the ones listed and found it to be the best. It is very well constructed with smooth well-finished and sealed wood. The moving parts are heavy steel moving parts which move easily and don't give you a problem when you are expending or lengthening the stretcher. There is no comparison to one set I bought that gave you two stretchers but the wood part was unfinished and had such rough surface that pieces of it fell off and I almost got a huge splinter. This is first quality all the way. works extremely well and well worth the extra dollars. Read more

bought the one way stretcher to widen two new pairs of running shoes (open weave material/leather mix, ascics/new balance) that i couldnt return. It worked. I used this on one shoe per night, premoistened interior with a cotton makeup pad wetted with water then doused in alcohol. Both pairs of shoes widened easily no slippage (I read some reviews that said the device would slip back into the heel of the shoe). I had to use the attachments to get the extra width I needed elsewise it wouldnt have worked as the native width of the stretcher isnt wide enough for a size 8 wide width shoes. It does say on the description not for use on wide width tho. You have to be super careful not to overturn the device as it will strip the bolt. I would advise to use the grip test around the area being stretched to feel for a tautness of the shoe material, not the screw part of the stretcher which seemed to be very delicate and would spin with no resistance to the point i wasnt sure if it was working. whatever, it worked and saved me a few hundreds of dollars for shoes that couldnt be worn elsewise. I would recommend going up to a large womens or a small mens stretcher as others said if you have a wide shoe. Read more

At the advice of another reviewer, I got the men's medium for my women's size 38 and 39 (~8 US) shoes. I've aggressively stretched 2 pairs of Dansko clogs- one of which was brand new thick patent leather and an entire size too small. The plastic nubs are a helpful for making space and I was even able to get some instep stretch before using them. I'd never used a stretcher before but didn't have any difficulties. I generously sprayed the shoes with isopropyl alcohol and stretched each shoe moderately for ~24hrs before adding the nubs for a second round which lasted several days. I purchased a couple of inexpensive shoe horns for about a dollar each and they have been invaluable tools for prying the shoes off once they are stretched. Shoe stretchers take a lot of abuse- I'm glad I paid a little more to get quality pieces and having two has definitely been worthwhile. Highly recommend these, they're one of the best purchases I've made all year. Your feet will thank you! Read more

After owning one of these for a year, I purchased a second so that I could stretch two shoes at once. They work relatively well and are easy to use, but are more expensive than I would anticipate this product being. I will say that their customer service is very good. When my second stretcher came without the metal stretching plugs, the company immediately FEDEXed me the missing pieces. The fact that they are wood also gives you the option of drilling an additional hole for one of the stretching plugs, if you need to place one is a particularly specific location. Read more
