This part fit my 04 F150 perfectly. After taking out the original part, I can imagine that the original hinge will fail often, as it relies on several plastic pieces to absorb spring tension. This part does not cure the plastic dependency entirely, but it appears to be reinforced over the OEM hinge/housing. Uninstall was the biggest pain in the butt. (Hint #1, remove the door from the hinge first. Hint #2 Pull the top tabs out with your flathead -- WAY OUT. I mean pull them out until you think you have pulled them out beyond all reason. Then pull them out some more.) The install of the new part was a relative snap. You do need to use some muscle power to get it in successfully, however. It's a simple repair. All you need is a flathead screwdriver and a 9/32 socket wrench. When your F150 gas door starts flapping in the breeze, this is definitely 33 bucks well spent, and beats using taped velcro or other workaround. Read more
Fits and works great. It takes some TLC on the old part removal and new part install was a bit easier, but just be careful and have patience. Getting the 3 holes to line up was the hard part on the reinstall. Removing the old one is a trick because its held in with 4 little tabs two on top and two on the bottom. I used a small screw driver to release them and hold it so they don't snap back into place. Then you have to turn and twist it to get it out of the hole. Remove the door by putting a small thin flat blade screw driver in the slot in the center middle of the square mounting point. then slide it back and out. It was a bit tricky as I said, Have patience. Read more
Not much to say. It's an exact replacement part. Easier to install than the video made it look, and my gas door no longer flops around. Read more
This product was delivered promptly on a Sunday no less. Thanks Amazon. I have a Ford F-150 XLT Crew Cab Style Side. The fuel cap housing spring mechanism broke and the door would not spring back. After reading previous reviews, this appeared to be best option as it was OEM rather than aftermarket. Watched online video and within 20 minutes, had changed out the fuel cap housing mechanism. Basically, in the 2005 model, you can take your original fuel door off from the broken housing mechanism, remove 3 screws, use a flat head screw driver to release two plastic latches on the superior portion of the housing and gently remove the whole housing. The new one required about an extra minute to maneuver in as it is a tight fit. But once snapped in, you replace the three screws and snap the fuel door back on the new housing and good to go. Works like a charm. Nice flush fit and closes like new, flush with the body. Saved a bundle of money. Read more
For just like OEM. Took the old one out (broken spring) and had the new one installed in 10 minutes. Just takes getting the 3 bolts out, and carefully sliding the new one in. Been working great for 2 months now. Read more
