As a software engineer who spends 40 hours a week glued to a computer screen, I'm prone to eye strain and tension headaches that not even blue light-blocking glasses can mitigate. Color-changing LED smart bulbs tuned to red/orange hues help immensely when I'm home, with the added bonus of being able to automate them on a schedule. But my office is a different story. The wifi there is enterprise-grade, with single-sign-on and 2FA, and the only way around that -- Internet sharing from my desktop -- doesn't always work. Neither does setting the bulbs' color temperature at home and relying on their memory feature at the office, because I can't change the color back to white for Zoom calls and in-person meetings. So I went on what I assumed would be a fruitless quest: finding a light-bulb equivalent to the cheap LED strip lights that were all the rage 10 years ago. Sure, the remotes are janky, and sometimes you press the orange button, only to get green. But the lights themselves last forever, and you don't have to worry about some billionaire using them to aggregate data about when you wake up, leave the house, or turn the mood lighting on in the bedroom. Thankfully, I found what I was looking for, and from a quality manufacturer, at that. Using these lights is as plug-and-play as it gets, and the remotes are easy to use. There are 8 color buttons with two alternating settings apiece, a white button that alternates between daylight and soft-white temperatures, dimmer, timer, and mode buttons, and an on-off button. That's it. If you're a stickler for exact RGB/hex color values or fine-tuned white temperatures, these are not the droids you're looking for, but for me, they're everything I need and nothing I don't. The light quality is fully on par with the solid-color GE LEDs I own. No flickering, and none of the color weirdness sometimes seen with "in-between between" settings (i.e., not pure red, green, or blue). The *only* issue I have with these lights is that the remote is a little too omnidirectional at times. My office has a desk light and double-bulb floor lamp in opposite corners, but no matter where I aim the remote or how close I am to the light i'm trying to change, I usually end up changing all three. Since these also retain their last setting when powered off, my workaround is to manually switch off whatever light I don't want to change, then use the remote to change the other one. And really, these lights have enough going for them that I'm fine with that. Read more

I ordered another set bulbs for some elderly family members for a set of lights that don’t have a switch. They’d have to climb a small, 3 step ladder to turn the bulbs into the on position. But due to their health, are unable to make the climb anymore. Those bulbs didn’t connect to the electric power of the house. They worked only after charging. The remote was also “hit-or-miss” and therefore unreliable. The size of the remote was also quite small compared with the GE bulbs. These GE bulbs on the other hand work on the home’s electrical power, the remote is larger, solid and clearly marked. It was also easy to explain how to operate to elders who have a difficult time with technology some times. The remote works at distances across the room and from different angles. Though it’s not necessary for this application, the color changing option is a bonus. For the intended purpose these bulbs were bought, they are perfect and very happy with them. Also, these bulbs are about the same price for the subpar bulbs bought before. We will probably purchase more for lights downstairs to save them a trip. And for people who are caregivers, stairs can be hazardous for some people they help. Which brings me more peace of mind. Read more

So I bought these to due to some idiotic electrical work in the new house we bought and eliminate the need for me to go up in the attic, change wiring and possibly fall through the ceiling of the house. I was a little unsure of the responsiveness of the lights and the remote but they work great. I bought a 3 pack and each bulb came with a remote but it does not matter. Each bulb (I tried 3 together) can be controlled by just one remote. I will try and see if a different remote can control different lights which I assume it will. Great quality, pretty cheap (cough chough Philips Hue) giving the fact that it lets you control any light without the need of electrical surgery and work right out of the box and easy to install. They dim, change colors and connect instantly after you insert the bulbs. Will buy again. Read more

It is great that those don't have to be connected to WiFi to work. You getting remote with each of the bulbs but u can use one, the same remote with all of them as well. Also one of the remotes didn't work but that's ok since I use multiple bulbs in one room. I think that was one of the best value that I could find. They are not very bright, more like an ambient than surgical table lol. Been using them for few months now and I have no complains. Read more

These lights look fantastic. I ordered 2 sets, and one of the remotes did not work at all. I removed the CR2025 battery and tested it: 3.3 volts, so it should have worked. Put the battery back in and it still didn't work. I then put a new Energizer CR2032 battery in. The 2032 is thicker than the 2025, with a higher capacity. The remote started working. Not sure if the added thickness allowed it to make contact or what, but at least I didn't have to send it back. I do feel like they owe me a battery, though. One other remote note: be sure you are pointing it in the right direction, with the color buttons at the bottom. You also have to get pretty close (6 feet?) from the bulb and point directly at it, at least in the recessed cans I have mine in. The colors look amazing, and the white light is much more pleasant than the standard soft white GE LEDs I had in there previously. I'm guessing that these lights are more full spectrum for better color. One star removed for the remote hassle. Read more

bought this because of not needing an app or wifi, and that it came with a remote. However, the remote does not work whatsoever and the product support page does not mention the remote at all. Adjusting the lighting of the bulb only works with wifi or an app. It will turn on if screwed into a lamp that is on, but the light is very dim. Do not buy this product if you want to use the remote or want a bulb that isn't dim. Read more
