I was in the process of redoing the cabling in my small network rack and needed some short cables to patch between my switches and patch panels. These cables are available in a variety of shorter lengths. There were sturdy cables with protected Ethernet plugs. Overall they worked well. They are a bit stiff and not super flexible. However, they seem quite sturdy as a result and should hold up well. I bought a various lengths and the packaging the very inconsistent. Some were individually bagged (environmentally wasteful) and others had multiple ties on them and simply put in a bag. Overall I felt they were a decent value. Read more
So I've been on a jag of reviewing patch cables.. I did the same with these. OD measures as expected for cat6 cable, 5.9mm The feel is right and the printing of the twists looks right. Looking down at the end of the RJ45 connector, looks to be real copper stranded wire. I dug out my old but very good 12mp camera, and it does no better than my phone of attempting to get a good macro shot of the end of the RJ45... terrible shots... So stick to the basic pictures. So lets cut the end off one and strip it back. We have the center separator. Check. We have a good rate of twist, comes in about 5mm/twist. Check, It strips well with my calibrated 24awg stranded wire stripper, and yes it is as expected by what was seen at the end of the RJ45, stranded copper conductors. Check. Gear It is using the cat5 configuration RJ45 (made for 24awg wire only), but remember, that staggering of the pins seen on the newer "cat6" rated connectors are to allow for the use of 23awg wire that it optional in cat6, but not mandatory. Real cat6 patch cables IMHO. The potting in the ends look good on all 26 of my cables. I havent tested them all for continuity and proper wiring yet.. but will do to each one before they are put into service. Read more
