Much better than your hardware store night lights. I like it in the bathroom and turn it on when I go to bed. One nice thing is that this item looks good whether the light is turned on or off. It works well for my purpose. If you want something for a hallway or or an area that you will be entering in the dark, you might prefer one of the nightlights that have a motion - detected on function. I gave the bluebird shape as a gift. It was well received. It's beautiful. You'd think it's more expensive than is - someone might even think it's hand made or something. Still works well after a year and a half. Read more

This nightlight is truly a beacon in the night. I was needing a little light in the hall bathroom so I wouldn't have to turn on the main light for a potty break and become fully awake at 3am. I just wanted a hazy warm glow, not stage lighting. Two family members reported that it looked like the main bathroom light had been left on all night- and they sleep with their doors fully closed! I gave it 5 stars because of its wholehearted, radical commitment to its purpose- dispelling the darkness and illuminating all possible pitfalls on one's journey toward midnight bladder relief. I think it's worth mentioning, though, that we've only used it two times because of how bright it is. I need to find a less exuberant bulb for it.
