The 80 ml / 2.70 fl oz (it’s a good size) opaque plastic bottle of the reii reii essence arrived carefully bubble wrapped inside a well-labeled box that was taped at the top. Directions and ingredients, etc., are listed on two sides: one in English and one in Korean. The milky looking essence is lightweight, but a bit thicker than the water-like essences I’ve used. However, the three drops I applied, after a successful patch test, glided across my face and neck. (The instructions on the box say to apply “a few drops”). There is a strong initial scent to this essence (pleasingly floral to my nose), which I expected after looking over the long list of ingredients. However, a minute after I applied the essence I couldn’t detect the scent, and my skin, prone to redness, didn’t experience any issues. My mature, combination skin can take a while to absorb products, and unfortunately my skin took a good half hour to fully absorb this essence. I’ve recently shifted to gentler, rice based physical exfoliants as my skin can only tolerate chemical exfoliants once in a while. However, I was able to use this essence several days in a row (once a day in the evening), so it passed my gentleness test. Unfortunately, on my skin the exfoliation wasn’t as good as my two go-to exfoliants that don’t remain on the skin. I’ve read that layering this serum is an option, which might increase the exfoliation effectiveness, but that wouldn’t work for me because of how long it would take to absorb. Read more

Normally I like to use skincare for some time before I review it but the amount of time someone has stopped me and asked what I use on my skin has been insane. I've had to show multiple people a picture of the reii reii Gold Rice Softening Essence this week because of how glowy my skin looks. To have strangers tell me that my skin looks amazing on a daily basis, I knew I needed to give it a 5 star review. I apply it in the morning after I wash my face and even middle of the day my skin is still glowing and soft. Immediately after applying it feels very hydrated and smooth, but its not heavy and it absorbs beautifully. My complexion looks stunning and it feels like its stregthening my skin barrier as well. Its not fragranced and I've had no type of irritation in the week I've been using it. Its even helped soothe my redness which alot of skincare products can't achieve. I have been absolutely in love with the results and the compliments I have been receiving speak volumes to the quality of the product. Korean skincare never dissapoints but this softening essence is a hidden gem I'm so glad I found! I’ve been using this as a daily exfoliating essence, and it feels very gentle on the skin. It smooths things out without irritation and adds hydration without weighing my skin down. It fits easily into a regular routine, and the bottle goes further than expected since a little covers the whole face. The dropper takes some control to avoid overapplying. I was assuming this was a rice scrub since I did not read the description well. After reading the how-to-use on the box I realized it was not a wash off cleanser or exfoliate, however, from the small amount I have used so far I’m really glad I got this product. Firstly, it he packaging is simple and sleek in a much larger plastic bottle than I thought would arrive. The scent is what I would describe as slightly minty but very, very faint. The texture is that of most serums, a medium consistency. I applied a small test on the back of my very dry hands (see photos) and it left my hand visibly smoother and silky soft. There is zero tackiness or heavy feeling left behind once fully dried. My skin felt like absolute silk after only one application. I have very sensitive redness prone skin and it did not cause any irritation on my face but definitely left it much softer than before. I can’t wait to see long term results of this product considering how well it worked twice. Definitely a great value considering how large the bottle is and how little you need to apply. This essence is a lovely product! As soon as I applied it, I could immediately feel a slight tingling or stinging sensation on my face. Even though I have sensitive skin, I was pleasantly surprised that, despite the initial feeling, it didn't cause any actual irritation or redness. After using it my skin felt noticeably hydrated and had a beautiful little glow. It has a nice milky texture that spreads evenly, and the smell is great, which I personally love... but if you are sensitive to fragrances, this might be one to skip. Read more
