This is our second purchase of this model cooker. The first was a great slow cooker until we dropped the crock and broke it. A new crock costs about the same as a new cooker, so we just bought a new one. The lock down lid is a great feature and slightly improved over the old one in ease of use. Update The cooker is still working, but the light stopped working within the first year. I asked HB for a replacement under the warranty. They would honor it. All I had to do was cut off the plug, mail it in and pay return shipping. That all added up to about the cost of a new one so I decided to just keep using it without a light rather than be without one for a few weeks. Forget the warranty. Read more

I like this crock pot. I like simplicity in electronics. My grandparents used to say, "the more complicated it is, the more there is to break." So I do my best to buy less complicated. I forgot that mantra for a moment & went to Macy's and bought a different crock pot (on sale) and got home and it has a button that decides how long you are going to cook for. 2 hours? 4 hours? 6 hours? What the heck does all of that mean? And I promptly over-cooked everything I put in there! So I bought this one from Hamilton Beach on Amazon. I'm not a huge fan of the lid - but it does stay on! No one else can figure it out (like if I'm at a potluck or something) - so I show them or else they don't worry about it. (They don't need to worry about it. Maybe they fiddle because they are curious?) But I like this one. Warm, Low, High, Off. Those are the kinds of settings I want on my Crockpot. Read more

No bells and whistles here folks, just a simple knob (low, medium, high, and warm). I do love that the lid also straps down so I don't have to worry about spillage all over my car. It appears to cook evenly, but does cook warm as I can bring most liquids to a boil on low. No bells and whistles here folks. Just a solid slow cooker. Read more

One of the best products to cook food with, and this Hamilton Beach does it very well. Try my favorite (and my kids) recipe.. so simple! Get a large 4-5lb Chuck Roast, three cans of Campb. Beefy Mushroom soup, and a large white onion from your local grocery. Heat up an iron skillet nice and hot! Sear both sides for about two minutes. Put two cans of the Beefy Mushroom soup in the bottom of your New Crock Pot. (NO WATER) Place the seared roast in, on top of the soup, quarter the onion an place them to the sides of the roast. Black ground pepper the roast (NO SALT). Place the last can of soup on top. This needs to start early and cook slow on Low, all day, about 10-11 hours. It's that simple! Do not add water.. the meat will contain water that will cook out. The soup ( having enough sodium/salt in it) makes a wonderful gravy! Just cook up a batch of Egg Noodles, or Rice to go with it! You will Love it. You can add Mushrooms and/or some Chipotle sauce to spice it up. I would not add carrots or potatoes to the crock pot, as it will distort the flavor of the roast. You can cook those on the side if wanted. Read more

How have I lived my whole life without a slow cooker?!! Seriously buy one! Not that I know anything about slow cookers but I can't see how one could be better. I literally put meat, beans, veggies, broth, and spices into it, set it on low, leave it overnight, and in the morning I have the most delicious soup or chili ever. Also, you can stick a whole squash in it and leave it overnight and have perfectly cooked squash in the morning. Couldn't be easier. If I run into any problems I will update this review. But until then, you can safely assume this wonderful device is working perfectly for me! Read more

I love this thing! I don't cook more than a couple times a week because of my schedule so I wanted to see if a slow cooker would allow me to eat a little better. This far exceeded my expectations. I love slow cooked, fall off the bone pork, chicken, beef etc. I used to cook meats in a convection oven at low temps fro several hours and got good results. The slow cooker in contrast is so nice because I can throw everything in there, put it on low and go to bed. At lunch time the next day, it is ready to eat. I like that cook time is not very critical once you meet the minimum. If I get tied up at work and come home an hour later, no problem, the slow cooker doesn't destroy the meal. What a perfect fit for a busy life style. I no longer have to sacrifice a good quality meal because I am too busy to cook it. Now I can chop and prep when I have the time, and toss it all in there and turn it on 8-10hours before I am ready to eat it. Simple! Read more

I don't need bells & whistles for a slow cooker (don't need programable)... just to turn on, go about my day, and then turn it off hours later, simple. And therefore the price is reasonable, so no complaints. I love the "warm" feature - don't have that on others so would have to keep cooking on low if not ready to eat, so this is sweet. The "tie downs for traveling" latches are a nice extra. Great size (6 qt). I am very happy with this slow cooker. Read more
