Harman Kardon Allure Voice-Activated Home Speaker with Alexa Black

I bought this back in 2018, was really impressed with the quality of sound and reach. HOWEVER IT IS 2023 and I hope someone at harmon kardon reads this - unfortunately my husband left the speaker outside on the patio over night - down pouring storm and rain all night: worst of the year. When I realized it had been outside through it all I truly thought it was done for. Plugged it in out of desperation and sheer hope. It turned on, sounding just as good as it did when I first got it - months later still working like a champ and if it were ever to quit I would know most likely it was due to the incident and would buy another. This thing looks super cool. I love the lights. The sound is good. Listening is subjective but I feel like the original Echo might have had a little better Sound Stage. This does everything that my original Echo does for me. I actually think this device hears me better than the original Echo. My only complaint is I cannot set the Wake word as I like Echo better than Alexa. I will most likely be keeping this because of the cool lights and it understands me better so I do not have to repeat myself. Note: I am deducting one star. Got this speaker because I want a better sounding speaker that also has echo like features. Debated between this one and Sonos and decided to purchase the Harman one due to the Harman quality. This speaker sounds awesome with pretty deep bass, and it supports Spotify as well which is a big plus as well. This is now my go to speaker at home and I love it. Read more

When it arrived, I just turned it on and paired it with a device, it worked for 5 mins and then died... the speaker doesn’t emit any sound, just remains silent all the time. Of course I’ve tried many options to make it work, like hard reset, set up with HK Alexa app, pair manually with a bluetooth device, but none worked. I reviewed the box and noticed it that this item was not new, so I received an used and defective device. - Sound quality: during the 5 mins that it worked, I noticed the speaker lacks the mid and high range sounds, but has a good bass. - Is friendly? Has a quick start guide, but lacks an user manual, the app fails constantly and the touch buttons just don’t respond - Value / benefit: don’t waste your money, go and get a different option like Sonos - Design: beautiful and unique design that would worth it if it could emit any sound Read more

This is a nice speaker, however, I'm disappointed in Alexa i was hoping this could replace my Echo dot in the living room but the voice command is not good it goes in and out and the response is rather slow and lagging. You would think Harmon Kardon would be more cautious of this as this design was meant for Alexa, The echo dot response is impeccable compared to this. If you want a good speaker from Harmon Kardon its a great choice but if you want Alexa i recommend you go with a Amazon device. I wish Amazon or harmon kardon could compensate with a upgrade to fix this issue. I'm contemplating returning this speaker. Read more

It works as intended. Has good sound and since i don't have any other devices I don't have the issues others are complaining about not playing well with other devices. Over all I'm really happy I bought it when it was on sale for $150.00. If you have other devices this one may not be the best fit for you. If this is your only device it works great. Read more

Harman Kardon Allure represents a fine upgrade over any of the Alexa family speakers, besides all the functionalities of a smart speaker, the Allure has a great 360 sound that will fill up easily any room in the house (it gets really loud!), the sound could be a tad bit more refined (it lacks some warmth and at times its overly bright and pitchy, has insane bass, though) but mostly performs every music genre way better that any dedicated smart speaker. The looks are dividing but to me it looks refined and futuristic like the small sister of the Aura Studio 2, with its hypnotizing glowing lights its very pleasing to look at while listening to some music and drinking a cup of coffee. A bit pricey at its original retail value, but now that's come down in price I think it is a good choice if you wish to have a good sounding Alexa enabled speaker. Read more
