Solid steel trimmers work great; barrel spring give nice return to open position!
These are sturdy, well-functioning clippers that get the job done. I thought I would prefer barrel spring to a leaf spring, but I actually found it a little harder to latch them closed with the barrel spring. This doesn't affect how they function, but it is a minor drawback, in my opinion. Always, always, always (no matter what you're using to cut thicker nails) use after a bath, shower, or foot soak to soften the keratin and ensure a cleaner cut with minimal splitting or peeling, and this side-held cutter/trimmer will absolutely do the trick!
