HENCKELS Classic Razor-Sharp 3-Piece Kitchen Knife Set Chef Knife Paring Knife Utility Knife German Engineered Informed by 100

I bought this knife on Black Friday. It was an impulse buy. The price was excellent. Long story short, it completely exceeded my expectations. Best value for the price of any knife I have purchased this year. The workmanship is good. The handle(s) are tight, and there are no gaps between handle and metal. The metal is full tang. The rivets are tight and completely flush. There are no protruding rivets and no sunken rivets. The metal is thicker than I expected, and gives he knife a pleasant weight. The balance is good and the knife fits well into my hand. The factory edge was moderately sharp, but I sharpened the knife anyhow to get the edge I prefer. The blade took well to sharpening, and captured a satisfactory edge across the whole blade. No dull spots. I've only had the knife for a few weeks, and I already like it better than some of my other small knives. I don't know yet, how long it will keep a sharp edge. But after a couple weeks, it's still holding-up very well. I'm thinking, now, that I may want to buy some of the other Henckels knives that are advertised as "chef class". PS - Definitely not a "paring knife". More like mini chef knife or a special purpose utility knife. Read more

This paring knife replaced one I broke. The first time I used it I thinly sliced my thumb as well. It is VERY sharp. Other than that, it is a good little knife. I use it often and have no complaints. I would buy it again. Good value for the money. Read more

In terms of value being a sub $10 knife to cut things like produce or small blocks of cheeses this knife is fantastic and it's incredibly sharp. I think used for the proper application, including minor trimming it really seems like it will hold up for a long time Read more

Probably too tough at 4*s but I can't help comparing them to my top end Messermeister German knives that I got as a gift years ago and are not here where I am living at the moment. Comparison is not justified really - one of those costs way more than this set of 3, so this is a superb value. Really wonderful knives. You can get them very sharp. The only reason for 4* is that they I feel I have to be touch them up before I use them. But I like scalpel sharp knives and use a ChefsChoice electric sharpener using the fine ceramic slot. I would recommend these absolutely. Be aware that ChefsChoice can eat cheap knives, and that is NOT a problem with these. Finally, these 3 are all I need in my kitchen (I'm particular about my equipment). No need for any others in addition. Read more

Arrived promptly. Blade is very sharp and appears to be staying that way. The grip is adequate and comfortable in my hand. I use it for cutting up vegetables mostly. I hand wash and dry tho not instructed to do so. I feel I got a comfortable, great new knife! I give it 5 stars, which I don't think I have ever given to a knife before. Great little knife, however I like really sharp knives so I sharpen myself every three uses, however I like really clean cuts. This has been a great brand for many years. Before you buy to look close to see where it's made should be marked Germany. I have seen some made in India and other places. Read more

The quality does not measure up to that of my Henckels steak knives compared to the overall fabrication. It's not razor sharp. As a paring tool, it is easy enough to handle, but it's limited in types of tasks. For example, it's fine for slicing strawberries though more of a challenge for tough skinned produce. Read more
