HOMCOM 12000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Remote Control Free Standing AC Unit with Built-in Cool Dehumidifier Fan

I was going to get a used air conditioner for my apartment but it was so difficult to find exactly what I wanted for a good price and who knows how the quality would be. This brand new air conditioner was cheaper than the used ones I was looking at! And I don’t need to buy a separate dehumidifier because this has that built in as well. I think it’s a phenomenal product. Easy to connect to the window and simple to figure out. My apartment is about 1000 square feet with one large living room/kitchen area and 2 bedrooms. I use this in the living room area and it is strong enough to cool the bedrooms down as well. I usually set up a fan to direct some cold air into the bedrooms. Just as the headline says, it is not the coldest, but the auto mode works well. My other 12k BTU AC cannot keep up with the hotter temps, so I bought another to help out. They are nearly side by side and it is obvious to me when I put hands in front of each that the older one is blowing mildly colder air. The old one, though, has too much tolerance and lets the temp swing multiple degrees, so it can be either too warm or too cold part of the time. This one seems to control it a little tighter, which is nice. In combination, the two can manage to keep the house cool during our 105 F daytime temps. Read more

This air conditioner has been a great especially this past week of 95 degree weather here in NJ. My central air was down for over a month and I needed something badly before it got hot. I was weary as I was researching machines. So many machines had mixed reviews. Even the best selling ones had concerning reviews. So after some research I took a chance on this and I am so pleased. The air gets down to 61 it's cold and it cooled down my large apartment. It makes some noise but it doesn't bother me. Your mileage may vary though depending how sensitive you are to noise. Stopped working after less than 60 days…filters cleaned and maintained but cooling motor stopped kicking in. For the price could have obtained a window unit or added a unit to mini split. Read more

3.5 stars The unit is nice. Not too loud and cools okay compared to other units . No batteries for the remote, which is a small PITA but the really annoying thing is the vent hose. It is pretty short and very cheap. So thin that it would not stay on the unit when it was on. The hot air made the thin vinyl soft and it repeatedly fell off. I needed to wrap it well with duct tape to keep it on the outlet. It's so thin that you can feel the heat of the hot air like a radiator in the winter. So you are pumping heat into the room while cooling it as the hot air travels out the cheap duct Buy a decent duct elsewhere if you order this unit because it is seriously that bad. I'm going to replace it NOTE* None of these portable units come close to cooling the square footage they advertise. The room I need to cool is 14 x 16 with a 9 foot ceiling. That's 224 SF . My bedroom has 9 1/2 foot ceilings so add 25% for the higher ceiling so that should be equivalent to 280 SF I have the 14,000 BTU unit they say is good for upto 550 SF On days with high 80 degree weather it doesn't cool it enough.
