I live in a small brick house in sw Va. This summer has been the hottest, earliest in my 25 years here. I recently came home from a long road trip to discover the central air was no longer working. The earliest I could get somebody to show was a week. No way. (It ended up my friend replaced the capacitor.). Anyway I wanted a one room backup and picked this one. Gave it a tryout today. Seemed to cool well. Not too noisy. I plan to cool the bedroom well before bedtime and try to keep the door closed. Sort of an expensive contingency plan, but motels are expensive and their ac units are noisier than these. I also note that in the event of a power outage, this guy runs on 110 volts so my generator can easily run it. Finally, if this guy was going to be my only ac, I would have looked harder at the fancier units, but for my limited purpose, this seems good. Read more

I bought 2 of these to cool my upstairs, one for each room. I am cooling 680 square feet. Combined, that is 700 sq feet that both should cool. Both units have been running for just over 10 hours. These units did not cool. They just blew hot air around. As soon as I complete my review, I will be submitting a return for these 54 pound pieces of junk. I was cooler with a dollar store box fan. OK, the end of May beginning of June I started using it. I live in Pennsylvania. It’s not that hot out yet. I have a 700 square-foot two bedroom apartment so far it cools off 1/2 of my apartment perfectly mind you it hasn’t hit like 90° it’s only been about 80 at the most. It’s even gotten to the point to where it’s got too cold and it shut itself off I’ve only had to drain it one time and it was fairly simple. I really do like it. The only thing I don’t like is the exhaust that you have to put out the window the flimsy plastic piece that you put into your slider window broken 1 000,000 pieces so I kinda have it held together with tape and cardboard to block out my window so that the warm air doesn’t get in, but yet it still has a way to exhaust out the window. I would definitely purchase a separate window exhaust set one that’s more doable. The thin little plastic shattered as soon as we took it out of the Box. Read more
