I replaced my old vacuum with this one. I am impressed with this vacuum while being equally alarmed by how awful a job my last vacuum (that was very expensive) did. I only got this vacuum because I broke my last one by catching the hose (that was in the front of the vacuum) on a cabinet. Another feature I like about this one is the hose from the bottom of the vacuum to the collection container is on the back. This vacuum comes apart in 3 locations (by simply twisting) to remove anything that might have been sucked up on accident as opposed to having to get the screwdriver out and take apart the whole vacuum apart like previous models I have owned. The hose is easy to use and the attachments are lifesavers. The pet hair one is super impressive and the dusting one gets the job done (you may have to Swiffer for small tight spaces and tiny corners though). I keep the pet attachment in a drawer as I kept knocking it off the vacuum where it attaches and it made the hose hard to fit behind furniture I was trying to vacuum behind. All of the attachments you need are included. There is no extra charge for ordering other parts. The filters are washable and it comes with 2. If you are washing one, you can use the other one. The cord is super long. I do wish it would rewind on its own. However, a vacuum I owned in the past did rewind on its own and that feature stopped working about 2 years into owning it. It is not on a ball (like a Dyson) so it is not as easy to maneuver, but it does the job. If you find the vacuum has too much resistance than you probably have to floor setting too low. You just need to adjust the height on the dial. It is on the heavy side and it is fairly loud. If you are looking for a lighter and quieter model than this is not for you. However, every vacuum has its own pros and cons. The lighter and quieter vacuums do not have the same suction power as this one. It just depends on what you are looking for. Read more

Only the master bedroom has carpets here. I had a little cruddy vacuum that used to work okay in a 1-bedroom apartment 15 years ago lol. I got a little lazy during pandemic, and after one of the dogs passed away I didn't feel the need to vacuum as much. The result was a room with carpets so dirty, dusty, hairy, filthy - that I had kind of given up hope and was about to rip out the last carpet in the house. I have a bad back and knew that I would end up hurting myself using a heavy duty vacuum. As you can read above, the excuses not to vacuum were plentiful. I bought this Pet Max Complete so that I could focus on pulling up all the dog hair. It isn't too heavy for me to use with my bad back problems. And let me tell you -- I was "floored" (get it?) to see just how much filth and hair this machine was able to pull up. I had to empty the cannister every 5 minutes (great suction). It was working so well that I tried every attachment and spent hours on the room. Worked great on fan blades, fixtures, blinds & curtains, getting hair off the bedding, cobwebs, dusting, edges and floorboards. I did have to move some of the larger furniture to clean behind it, but otherwise it was able to maneuver just fine. I was able to clean out the underside of the treadmill using the attachments, and that is where so much dog hair had gotten trapped. By the time I was done, I had a "tall kitchen" size garbage bag more then 3/4 full of all the mung it had vacuumed up for me. The vacuum works so well, and it's so easy to use - I've gotten back in the habit of vacuuming again. For me, buying this vacuum saved the carpet and saved me the cost of new flooring. (I also had to use my 20-year-old steam vac to really finish the job, but still!). Read more

I’ve only had this vacuum a couple of months, but it works great. I have only 4 stars because the buttons and release mechanisms seem cheap compared to my prior vac’s (sharks). It is also a little heavy. However, it seems to work as well as any vacuum I am have had, making it a great value, if it holds up. Read more

I vacuum with this Hoover Pet Max on carpet, large floor rugs and WilsonArt laminate wood flooring. The 3 main reasons I bought this vacuum, over all the other upright bagless vacuums out there : 1) The large 2.5L dirt canister. The trend for newer model upright bagless vacuums are these small, 1.5L dirt canisters. If I spend good money for a quality upright bagless vacuum, that vacuum will have a decently sized dirt canister. 2) Performance. When this vacuum was delivered, I vacuumed my entire house: carpet, rugs, tile floor, laminate floor. The suction and ability to pick up debris in a single pass is great. The anti scatter seal, located just behind the brush roll on the underside of the vacuum, this seal keeps dirt within the brush roll area while vacuuming hard flooring. The 3 attachments work well. The Pet turbo tool works fine yet the same pet turbo tool from my previous Hoover works just a bit better. My old Hoover tools fit this new vacuum fine. The dirt canister is easy to remove and empty. Most important : the dirt canister does not clog. The dirt canister has small air holes at the top where air escapes the canister. My old vacuum, a $100 Hoover windtunnel, these air holes would clog with dust. With this Hoover PetMax vacuum, all the dirt and dust stay at the bottom of the dirt canister and the top area has no dust accumulation. 3) Durable build quality. The D shaped handle and the gauge of the plastic parts is substantial. My previous vacuum, a $100 windtunnel, ended up with several breaks to plastic parts over the years, including a broken plastic handle. My old vacuum developed air leaks at the dirt canister and this reduced suction. I sealed these leaks with duct tape. I realized I got what I paid for : a $100 vacuum. Every vacuum brand makes their low cost version of a vacuum cleaner. I spent more for this PetMax and I got a more durable handle, a more durable dirt canister. It is worth buying quality now and not having to duct tape in the future. Read more
