So this item does work. The problem is the instructions have failed to explain which cable to use on my computer, or maybe my computer specifically didnt want to use USB-C to USB-C cable, but i had to use the USB-C to USB-A cable with USB-C connected to the DAS and the USB-A to the computer. Another note, this DAS does not support RAID. I havnt tested or experienced heat problems, and the fan does have some noise, but not enough to bother me. I just got this after other storage solutions did not last a year. 1) Super quiet. Yes, the fan is noticeable but it's just a light hum. I got the 10 (6 bay) unit. It has two fans (I think they all do). As such, the fans don't need to be screaming fast. Just on. 2) Installation was super easy. 3) It seems well made, and instructions are super easy to use. 4) I like that fact that the power supply is NOT a power wart. That is, it uses a standard plug into my UPS. And could be replaced as it does not have a proprietary plug. For me, the transfer speed is not an issue and I am not going to test it. With the USB C connector I am sure I'll get good enough speed because I purchased this to use older SSD drives. So mostly multiple backups is why I have this. Really like it so far ... hope it lasts! It works as advertised, speed is decent, works good for storage. The issue I had is that it feels like what you pay for, cheap and thin plastic. The rubber nubs that hold the nvme drives in place do pop out easy. On mine the top drawer did not line up with the bottom two drawers when snapped in all the way. And for all the people saying its "Quiet," whats your definition of quiet. This sat next to 3 PC's and the fan sound was louder than all of them. Awesome enclosure for you HDD and SSD drives I would recommend putting heatsinks on your SSD drives to aid with the cooling when the fan pulls air through it will allow that heat to be exhausted quickly if you are using high speed drives Transferred almost 8 and half terabytes of data to it in less than 2 hours but this will also depend on the speed of your drives I used this for a raid 5 array to back up my other 2 bay nas drive with all of our movies and tv shows on it works great as cache slash back up storage device Highly recommend easy set up no tools needed Packed well Arrived on time Read more

Enclosure worked well in the beginning, then began giving several errors. One of the nvme slots only reads sometimes. Transfer speeds have stalled to a crawl at best. Constantly having to reformat the drives due to issues. They disconnect and reconnect randomly. Do not buy. Unfortunately, I bought two enclosures for my setup and BOTH began having issues at the 90 day mark. Sent emails to the manufacturer and they have refused to respond. Do not buy from cenmate. After trying the terramaster hybrid ( substantially more and doesn't come with 2.5inch adapters) as well as the wavlink 4 bay this is definitely the nicer of them solid shell. Plastic tray slides...people say the PLASTIC tray slides feel plasticy??
