This programmable plug is perfect for me and the app is really versatile. I've plugged my portable garage fan into it and set the app for it to turn on whenever the weather outiside gets above 70 degrees. I had no issues connecting it to my phone and setting it up and it always turns on when it's supposed to. I think the reviewer who plugged an aquarium pump motor to it may have exceeded the power ratings, that's probably why it's turning off. Either that or he forgot to delete a test program. In my expereince, for fans and lights, this plug is perfect and I plan on getting more of them. Read more

Nutshell: It does exactly what is says it will do. And at a decent price! Details: Ok, NORMALLY, I would give something like this 4 stars -- it's yet another smart device which requires it's own app you need to allow your "ecosystem" to support - unless you have Home Assistant (I don't and really don't want to run my own server or spend the time configuring everything). It gets a bonus star for one reason -- it provides a Bluetooth gateway -- and they have a product that pairs with this that can trigger Alexa routines! It's a two button switch. Yes, Phillips has that as well, but also requires a fairly pricey hub along with the pricey switch! The combo of this plus the switch is significantly cheaper than the Phillips hub! So, yes, BONUS STAR! Why is this feature important? Because we have a daughter that sometimes needs our help (health issues). And a button on her nightstand she can easily press to call us for help (that will ALSO send alerts to our phones) is a godsend! It's totally worth it! Read more

I love using smart plugs. The ability to essentially make any electronic device a smart device is great. I set one of these up for a light strip in my bedroom. While I liked the thought of using it with my Echo, it isn’t a direct process. You have to download another app, connect the plug through that, and then link it to Alexa before you can use it with the Echo. Personally, I’m not eager to add yet another app on my phone, and since my plan was really just to turn it on and off occasionally (not set up routines or schedules), I’ve mainly been using the on/off button on the plug itself. The plug works fine for what I need. There’s no strange buzzing noise that I’ve sometimes come across with cheaper smart plugs, and the button has a good amount of clickiness. It does take a little longer to respond when pressed compared to the official Amazon smart plug (about a second longer), but nothing that’s a dealbreaker for me. My main gripe is the need for the extra app. If this plug were a bit cheaper, I might have overlooked that, but since it’s around 80% of the cost of the official Amazon plug, I do think that’s something worth considering. Otherwise, the build quality feels nice, the button click gives good feedback, and overall it performs pretty well. Read more

The Intermatic smart plug is a fantastic addition to any smart home setup, offering an intuitive app and seamless compatibility with Amazon Alexa, which is how I primarily use it. I’ve set my plant lights to a timer through the app, ensuring they turn off automatically even on days when I’m feeling lazy—keeping my baby plants thriving and happy. The installation and configuration process is quick and straightforward, taking about 10 minutes depending on your WiFi speed. Having tested several smart plugs, this is my third or fourth, and it fully meets my expectations in terms of functionality and ease of use. Therefore, it is highly recommended for anyone looking to automate their home devices efficiently! Read more
