Customers say

Customers find these boots excellent for winter hiking, with plenty of room for thick socks and a wider toe box. Customers appreciate the traction in snow and the design, with one mentioning they look like regular hikers.

Very good quality boot

Very happy with these hiking boots! The toe box is wider so did not squeeze my toes. My first hike was 4 miles to try them out and no issues. They are also very warm. Read more

Warmest boots ever!

Alisa G.October 5, 2025

I used these boots last year for outdoor dog training in the winter. The traction on ice is outstanding. My feet never got cold in these, and they stayed dry every time. Unfortunately, for my feet, the fit is such that my heels slip, and I got a lot of blisters. I tried putting in heel pads and other ways, with no success. I'll give them another go this winter because they're just so warm and dry. Read more

Excellent, warm, not wide in the toe box

CrystalNovember 29, 2025

I LOVE these boots, but they aren’t as wide as I expected for Keens. The good: They are very warm. This morning I went on a walk in 20 degrees Fahrenheit with my lightweight Darn Tough socks on and my feet weren’t even a tiny bit cold. I didn’t even notice they were working so well until my husband mentioned his feet were cold in his boots (he was in non-waterproof regular Merrell Moab boots.) I imagine these are more than fine in 10 degrees, even with thin Darn Tough socks. I’m glad I went with my usual size seven instead of 7 1/2 for thick socks. Sturdy: we’ve got some snow already in Northern New York and lots of ice patches as the temps have been just above and below freezing for the last week. These shoes do well. I didn’t walk in direct ice because I’m not doing that. But they held their own perfectly on light snow with ice underneath. When I walk on dry sidewalks and streets, I can feel how sticky they are. The soles really hug the ground. Great height: these are somewhere between lower boots and higher boots, which I really love. I’m only 5’ tall and higher boots usually hit into my calves and can be uncomfortable, these do not. I wear quarter height socks and the socks come just above the boots. The meh: This is my first pair of Keen anything, and I read so many reviews about Keens having a wide toe box. I don’t really think they’re wide. They may have more room than the typical shoes, but they’re not wide fit. I have thin ankles and thin medium arches, but the balls of my feet to my toes are just naturally wide. I’m a size D in shoes. These are a little snug on my toes and they can’t splay, and they're not exactly squished but with anything but thin socks, they’d be too tight. Luckily they’re warm so thin socks are fine. I docked a star off for that. Fit: I am a size 6 in sandals and heels, 6 1/2 in non-athletic shoes, and a seven in athletic shoes (Nikes, New Balance, etc.) In winter boots and hiking boots, I tend to be a 7. I bought a 7 and they’re perfect, again, without thick socks. Read more

Comfortable and Warm

Hector DelgadoFebruary 7, 2025

These boots are comfortable as soon as you put them on. I really like the way they look! They kept my feet warm on a snow trip for 3 days of constant hiking and snowshoeing in knee high snow. The height of the boot helps prevent snow from coming in and getting your socks wet. I think the only concern was traction. They could have been designed for better grip in the snow, but they would perform well with microspikes if needed. I think they run a little big, but with my wool socks and sock liner they fit well enough. Overall, I'm satisfied with the purchase. I can't speak to durability, but I believe Keen has a decent warranty if something comes up. Read more

Not happy!

Jessie ToombsDecember 23, 2023

The media could not be loaded. Firstly, they mailed me the wrong shoes. I got a message that they would mail me the shoes and I promised to ship back the wrong order I received within 7 days. Well, it took 3 days to get to the UPS store and the Amazon app wouldn’t email a friend the shipping label so we screen shot it and emailed which did work (whew). So now, I have a hunting trip and because of their not following through, I ended up hunting in snow… in summer hiking boots. Then I received them and decided, I’m going to break them in. Overall, comfort wise they took a couple hours to get them to do a natural bend and not feel like I was walking stiff. Feet are dry and functionally I’m pleased. So I kick them off, glad I had a great pair of snow boots and look down to admire them and notice that they must of been stitched in 2 different countries. It would be different if they matched up, but I look down and after the mix up irritation, this was the icing on the cake. The tabs are even sewn at different places. When I buy shoes at this price with a brand like Keene, I expect some kind of quality control. If I wasn’t so excited to finally be able to afford such a good boot and actually looked at them, I would of sent them back!!!! The treads are fantastic on ice, snow/ice, and icy mud. I was able to go outside and blow off some steam without worrying about falling and looking like a clown in clown shoes! Read more

Very nice boot, well made and attractive

Carole ChrisOctober 28, 2021

I waited months to find this boot after I read that it had amongst the best traction on ice as rated by a Canadian laboratory. As an older person in a colder climate I dont want to risk falls. I also want something supportive and warm for snow shoeing. I havent worn these outside yet, I have been breaking them in around the house a couple of hours a day. They were a bit stiff at first but after a while started to feel comfortable. I have narrow feet and they fit well-they might not work for someone with wide feet. The are very warm and while supportive have some give. I think they will be great for ice and snow. Read more
