Most of them are now in the garbage. All have had false alarms over the last two years and usually in the middle of the night. Sometimes they won’t go off, which leads me to stomping on it as seen in the pic. Sometimes you can get the back label off to undo the battery, but not at 3:30am. Very disappointed, thought kidde was the top brand. Read more

Easy installation, we tested the product and it seemed to work well. The price was excellent, it was a better deal than purchasing it at the store. It only took a minute to put up. I love the fact that the battery does not have to be replaced and hopefully will last 10 years as promised. Read more

Our old alarms came to end of the useful cycles with the ever joyous trill beeping and had to get some new ones. These were a pleasant surprise in that 1) they didn't need to be hard wired, 2) they snapped right in, and 3) they stopped the incessant beeping of the failed old ones. Not a complaint to be had. The time finally came. Our smoke and carbon monoxide detector (also a Kidde brand) from 2010 finally died and we needed a replacement and the unholy chirp constantly reminded us. After reading various reviews from various online sources, we settled on this newer Kidde smoke and carbon monoxide detector with a sealed 10 year battery. The detector itself was easy enough to install with the included bracket but my biggest gripe is that there is no bracket standard, not just between brands but within the same brand. So to install the new bracket I had to pluck the old wall anchors out and drill new holes for new anchors because the hole pattern was different. Very frustrating because a standard set of hole patterns would allow you to utilize the old anchor points, saving time. I'm too lazy to fill and repaint all the holes so the detector is covering up decades of various bracket holes. Positives + Sealed unit with 10 year life so no battery replacements + Easy enough to install + Easy to test and see function by color coded LEDs + Detects both smoke and carbon monoxide Negatives - No bracket standard hole pattern means having to drill new holes and possibly remove old anchors Read more

Bought a 2-pack and within a couple of months, one of the alarms started giving a "Fault" error in the middle of the night. Tried to reset it multiple times and blow it with compressed air, but ended up disabling it (since customer support was out for the night). Called customer support the next day and they sent out a new one. Got a new one. Same thing - started giving a "Fault" error in the middle of the night about a month later. Since customer service was not an option in the middle of the night, husband and I tried several online suggestions and ended up having to disable it. Customer support the next day gave attitude and said they would send out another but that they wouldn't send me a third replacement if I disabled it again. I told them they wouldn't have to worry because if it happened again, I wouldn't want another one since it doesn't seem like a trustworthy fire alarm if it kept giving "Fault" errors. Needless to say, that one lasted about 8 or 9 months more and now the second alarm that had had no issues has done the same thing. Not sure why, but our house does not seem conducive to this alarm. Great alarm and not having to change the batteries every month or two is amazing. Great buy to keep you and your family safe. Read more

I've had this very model detector in my house for 12 years and it finally gave out so I feel like 12 years is a pretty good lifespan so I just bought another one! Read more
