Great First “Real” Knife Set for a New Apartment I bought this set as a starter kit for someone just out of college and setting up their first apartment, and it’s exactly what I was hoping for. You get all the basics you actually need: a chef’s knife, bread knife, slicing knife, utility, paring knife, and kitchen shears, plus the magnetic wood holder that keeps everything in one place and off the counter. The knives come sharp out of the box and handle everyday cooking really well—chopping veggies, slicing meat, cutting bread, all without feeling flimsy or cheap. The handles are comfortable and easy to grip, even with wet hands, so a new cook isn’t fighting the tools while they’re learning. The magnetic block is a big plus. It looks good on the counter, doesn’t take up much space, and makes the knives easy to grab and put away. This is a solid starter set. The knives feel balanced in the hand, and the edges came sharp right out of the box. They’re not heavy or awkward, so they’re easy to use for everyday chopping and slicing. The handles are comfortable enough for longer prep sessions, and the overall build feels sturdier than I expected for the price. If you take care of these like a normal person would, they should be rust resistant unless this is using some weird alloy not normally found in knives. The magnetic block is compact and practical. It keeps everything organized without eating up counter space, and the knives sit securely without shifting around. The sharpener, on the other hand, isn’t useful. This is an incredible knife set, especially for the current price ($50). It has everything you need. It would be fantastic for a college student, or someone getting their first apartment/house - stuff like that. Between the chef's knife, the shears, and the paring knife, you've got everything need. So the extras are just the cherry on top. I'm not the hugest fan of the built in sharpener, but that is just a bonus anyway. The knives feel very nice in the hand - well balanced and hefty in the right places. They came factory sharp, which is expected, but still very nice. I've been using them for about 2 months now so can't speak too much to durability, but they wash up easily and haven't lost much of their edge since day 1. Read more

This knife set is absolutely gorgeous. The included wood colored knife block is magnetic so your knives automatically will stick to it. Making them look very nice and organized on my countertop. Each knife is crafted so well with quality steel material. They seem as if they will hold up for many years to come. They washed a while in the dishwasher and are sharp and cut through my food evenly and quickly. I love the handles on this set as well. It also includes a pair of kitchen scissors, which I use a lot so that was definitely a plus!They stand out for sure! Read more

Love the space saving design of this knife rack. We don’t have anywhere in our kitchen to mount a magnetic one and this is the next best thing. It doesn’t take up much space on my counter and I like that the natural wood grain doesn’t fight with all the wood in my house. The knives are wonderfully sharp, I cut up an 8lb pork butt with it and it really slice through it like it was nothing. So easy on the hands. I use the pairing knife daily for apples and cheese too, great quality. The magnet is great, even holding my own personal knife alongside the set. Fits easily underneath my cabinets and doesn’t make my kitchen look too busy. Read more

Although appearance shouldn’t be the highest priority when it comes to knives, this is a nice-looking set of knives. The faux Damascus steel design on the blades, the contours of the handles, and the magnetic wooden holder all contribute to a unique and pleasant first impression. The knives appear to be well-made with totally smooth seams between the blades, the rivets and the handles. I didn’t find a rough seam on any of the knives. But how do they cut? The knives are very sharp right out of the box. It’s one of those small joys in life, but I’ve really been enjoying how smoothly they slice through things. It will be quite a while, I suspect, before they need sharpening. Everything I’ve said so far sounds pretty positive, so why am I rating them at four stars instead of five? A couple of things. The blade material is just listed as “stainless steel”. There are several different kinds of steel for making knives and if a manufacturer is proud of the steel they have chosen, they will usually list it, sometimes stamping it on the blades themselves. That makes me think the steel in these knives is just “ok”. I have noticed that these blades seem to have a tendency to stain if not cleaned and dried immediately after use. Another reason for the four-star rating is the magnetic knife holder. If I could rate it separately, I would give it two or three stars. Why? The knives will only stick to the back side of the holder (the side without “Fohere” printed on it). The promotional photos show the knives lined up cleanly along the top of the Fohere side. My knives won’t cling to the Fohere side at all, and will only stick to the other side as shown in the photo, with the two smaller knives and kitchen shears sliding down into the positions shown. I have not seen this problem mentioned in any of the reviews I have read, so I suspect that I just happened to get a defective holder. Read more

These knives came sharp and feel really solid. The magnetic block looks nice on the counter and holds everything well. I use them daily and they cut great. Definitely worth the money. Read more
