Got this 7-piece kitchen knife set with knife block, and this set is a solid "everything you need" kit for the kitchen. For a smaller footprint set, it came with all the essentials: Chef's knife, slicing knife, bread knife, utility knife, pairing knife, and kitchen shears. All impressively and extremely sharp out of the box! Wasn't sure how I felt about the black non-stick coating since I'm not really a fan of non-stick for health reasons. But I figured, this non-stick won't get heated and should be relatively safe to use, being that the knives are so sharp, food would not stick to them much. But being non-stick coated, from what I tested, there was no sticking. So, the sharpness, holy frijole! They are sharp!! Loved it. It is so satisfying to use knives that slice through whatever you need like a hot knife through butter. Tomatoes, swish. Meat, swish. You get the idea. This product is sturdy and the matching block looks stealthy on my counter and keeps it all together nicely without taking up too much space, yet another reason why I picked this set, its small footprint. A nice bonus, the chopping block comes with a built-in blade sharpener. Perfectly discrete and handy. Some handy advice, hand-wash these to keep the finish looking good and the blades sharp, do NOT place in a dishwasher, that's where all good sharp knives lose their sharpness. Overall, I'm impressed and like this knife set. If you're on a budget, need a small footprint product, or don't need a huge amount of knives for daily use, this is a great set to get. Read more

This is a basic/starter knife set. The description says it is an 8 piece, but it is only 8 pieces if you count the sharpener as a piece of the set or decide that the scissors count as 2. It has a total of five knives, two smaller pearing knives, one long filet, one serrated (bread) knife, and one cheff knife, add the scissors and block that makes 7 pieces. Quality is mid at best. The entire kit weighs less than 3 lbs. For comparison, my butcher block for my daily knives weighs 7lbs. empty. Every knife is made from what I would say is relatively thin metal. Handles are plastic and light. Each knife feels like there is not much to it and most of the weight is at the knife instead of the handle side. Color of the knives is black. When brand new, they look great, even fancy. However, I have owned black knives before. They all suffer from getting scratched and then they look old. Cutting qualities are the reasons for knives. I have tried them all exept for the bread knife. They do hold their edge well enough for light cooking, and straighten out quickly with the built in sharpener. One thing that I was pleasantly surprised about is that due to the black coating, cheeses tend to cut easier, and because the metal is not thick, it glides through the cheeses slightly easier than my thicker knives. The sharpener is basic, and will not get a fully dull knife back to life without a lot of elbow grease, but it will keep relatively sharp knives working better. I don't know about rust yet, and I do not put my knives in the dishwasher, so wouldn't be able to comment on that either. I have used them a few times and so far I think they do OK and I could see getting this set for an air b&b, or for a young couple that is just starting out, or for a travel van kitchen since these are more than enough knives and are light. Would I buy these knives again knowing what I know now: Yes, but only to use in an air b&b, not to replace my current, more expensive set. Read more

These knives are pretty nice, and they do cut well. They do not seem exceptionally durable, but they look nice. The big problem is the knife holder. It is made out of a flimsy plastic, and it doesn’t look very nice. Read more

This D.Perlla 8 piece knife set includes all the essentials you'll need for typical kitchen prep. The handles are comfortable, smooth, and easy to clean. The knife blades are sharp right out of the box and have a fantastic black finish over stainless steel. The knife block is matte black, holds all the items securely, and has a built in knife sharpener to keep your edges their best. For an everyday set of kitchen knives these are hard to beat. They cut well, look great, and are priced right. All that makes them a 5 star value. Would recommend. Read more
