I appreciate the value of a sharp knife and I use my chef’s knife every day. It’s had some knicks in it for months. I’ve sharpened it with a little gadget but it just hasn’t done the job. So, I ordered this sharpener. There is a little manual included which is well written. I’ve never had any experience with knife sharpeners except the “gadget” and watching a video on line was helpful. I sharpened all of my knives with it and I’m very impressed. Knicks are gone from my chef’s knife and all of my knives are admirably sharp again. It was easy to use and time efficient. You cannot turn it on or off without holding the button in for a second which is a nice safety feature. You don’t have to be concerned about holding a sharpener at the correct angle because the device takes care of that for you. I’m letting my family know to bring their knives over and I will sharpen them for them! I’m giving it 5 stars based on function and safety although price might be a little higher than comparative options. Read more

I was curious to try one of these rolling sharpeners after seeing them around, and while it technically works, I found it more awkward than just using a whetstone with an angle guide. That said, it is more beginner-friendly and less intimidating than a whetstone so if you're looking to get your first sharpener, this isn't a terrible option. The kit includes four different grit wheels, which is nice, but there’s nowhere to store the two that aren’t in use—a huge missed opportunity. The base / angle guide could’ve easily opened to hold the extras and I was actually pretty surprised that it didn't. It does sharpen decently, but if you’re serious about keeping your knives sharp, I’d honestly go with a pull-through sharpener or a proper whetstone which will likely be cheaper, more versatile, and last longer.
