I've given hair styling tools 5 stars in the past, because they do everything they say they do reliably. But this straightener/curler is much more than I expected! In addition to my basic requirements (I'll list those below), the unusual plate shape does WONDERFUL things for my hair! I have no idea why, but when I slid it down my hair to straighten it, the result was lovely. I can't say that it had a noticeable wave or curve, it just looked different - and better. More natural than with a standard hair iron. I was skeptical about using it to curl my hair, because I've tried hair straightening irons that have fallen flat when they've claimed their tool could do that. but this one does, easily! I assume that the curve in the plates give it whatever "oompf" it needs to go beyond what I've experienced before. As far as my general requirements, the length is convenient. The settings are placed so you can't inadvertently change then when you're styling. (Initially, I was going to take off a star for the placement - inside the handle of the iron, but the way this is designed, they're just fine there: while the plates are a standard length, the arms are a little longer than I've generally seen, so they're placed far enough away from the plates that theres no little of you burning yourself.) The arm shape is very well thought out, too. When the iron is pressed closed, I think it would be difficult to burn your fingers. When closed, there is enough of a recess that if you rub your hand next to that part of the iron, you don't make contact with any part of the plate. Perhaps the twist of the plates results in a better margin between them and the edge of the iron, but I'm just guessing. I guess you can tell that I'm VERY enthusiastic about this tool. Licensed Cosmetologist & Barber here! If you’re looking for a well made, durable user friendly hair tool that will leave you w/beautiful, stylish beachy wave-Curls-order this gem! This is an awesome tool that leaves beautiful sleek, slick, curly waves & unlike other similar products out there, she does not leave unwanted lines in your hair! I have a head full of long hair! It isn’t coarse, meaning each strand is average-thin, but I have a lot of it! It’s naturally wavy/curly if I don’t blow dry & style it. It takes hair products & good quality hair tools to curl & have that curl hold! I would not recommend this tool for a straightener if you have shoulder length to longer hair. It can be used for straightening, but a regular flat iron is going to work best for sleek, straight hair. I recommend this hair tool & give it 4.5 stars, only deducting off for the fact it isn’t great for the flat iron straight style. I hope you order her & I hope you love her! I do appreciate the optional heat settings, the rubber protection matt inc, as well as the timed power off switch to put mind at ease when it comes to fire hazards! This hair curling iron and straightener is seemingly well made and gets up to temperature fairly quickly. The curvy aspect to this iron is seemingly attractive, but seems to put a slight curve in the hair, though it's not straight like some of the typical flat straighteners, this seems to do well at straightening hair. The curling isn't quite like the metal exposed curlers that really get the curls going, but this does well, I am always worried about the inner black ceramic over heating the hair more than the outer curling on the hair. This thing gets very hot (250F) even on the lowest setting, so be very careful not to burn your hair! I really wish this could be a little lower in temperature. What I like about this is that the buttons are on the inside the unit so it's not so prone to accidently hitting the shutoff or temperature buttons. Read more
