Well-made and works well on my straight, curl-resistant hair
I don't usually leave reviews, but I went out on a limb and bought this new version of Le Duo a couple of weeks ago when there weren't any non-incentivized reviews yet. So far, I've been really impressed and thought I should do my part to leave a review. I have straight, medium-fine, unprocessed, shoulder-length black hair and I've never been able to get curls/waves to stay in my hair until I used this product. Even using the "wave" feature and at the lowest heat setting (280F, prepped with CHI 44 which I'm sure also helped the curls last), my curls lasted all afternoon/evening at a wedding and still looked good the next morning. I tested both the curl and the wave settings, and I couldn't believe the curl setting was actually "too curly" for my taste (probably would look better once my hair is longer). I did two practice sessions on my hair before the wedding to figure out what setting and technique to use for the look I wanted; there was a little bit of a learning curve since I've never tried using a straightener to curl my hair, but it was pretty intuitive overall. One of the tutorial videos I watched on Amazon didn't seem to demonstrate the right technique. The color and design also look very nice, and the materials feel and look high quality. I like how there's only a couple of small lines at the edges of the plates I have to avoid for potential burns. The fan was a little louder than I expected and surprised my husband when I turned it on, but definitely quieter than most hair dryers and not an issue for me. You can also easily turn it off by pressing a button. I don't recall any weird/strong smells when I started using it, and definitely nothing now after a few uses. That being said, I've only tried the 320F and 280F heat settings, and not the higher heat settings. The price seemed reasonable to me if it continues to perform well over time. At the low heat settings, I can see minimal heat damage from occasional use, which is what I was looking for. Now I'm excited to grow out my hair and see if I can get curls to stay in when my hair is longer/heavier. Tips: - only use on fully dry hair - be sure to use heat protectant - smaller sections worked much better, even for just curling the ends under - if you want a really tight curl, follow the directions to rotate the barrel 1 full revolution (I might have even rotated it twice) Read more
