Amazon Reviews—January 26, 2015
I bought this space heater based on the (mostly) positive reviews it received, and so far I really enjoy it. My girlfriend kept cranking up the thermostat during the winter, so I thought this would be a cheaper alternative to heating the whole apartment. You always read the "horror story" reviews for products like these, but you have to take those with a grain of salt. This is a very nice heater for the money. - Heating Ability: It has three settings - one is just a fan, then heat intensity 1 and heat intensity 2. The heat intensity 1 is perfect for stashing the heater under your desk and keeping your feet warm. You need to keep it close to you (within a foot or two), but the heat it puts out is just right to keep you comfortable. Heat intensity 2 is suprisingly strong. I can keep it within six feet of the couch and it quickly heats up the local area and keeps the two of us very comfortable. It would take a while to heat up your whole living room, but people expecting that shouldn't be buying a space heater in the first place. - Noise: One of the major selling points for me was the reviews stating how quiet this unit is. I would tend to agree with those reviews. The sound emitted is a soft white noise, I would say equal to or less than the volume of a window fan on "low". The volume doesn't change regardless of the heat setting (fan, one or two), and you shouldn't need to adjust your TV or music volume while running this heater. I've heard other space heaters run much louder than this one. - Smell: I'm not sure what others are talking about with this "noxious odor". I know the smell they're referring to (kind of a burning plastic smell), and this heater produces minimal or zero odor. Unless you have an extremely sensitive nose, you have nothing to worry about. - Cautions: This heater does not have a tip over safety feature, meaning if you tip it over, it doesn't automatically shut itself off. The front grate of the heater does get hot to the touch (equivalent to grabbing a cup of coffee without the handle). I don't see anyway it could start a fire, but it would burn you if you left your hand on there for more than a few seconds. Because of this, I wouldn't leave it running unsupervised if you have animals or small children. - Value: For around $30-35, this is a nice heater that should satisfy the needs of most people with realistic expectations. Highly recommended if used properly. I also agree with others that the oscillation feature doesn't do much, but that's ok. Read more

*** Seller: I bought the Lasko 5307 Oscillating Ceramic Tower Heater, 16-Inch from Amazon.com LLC. *** Shipping and handling: Amazon.com LLC did a wonderful job in packaging this product. It arrived in excellent condition. *** Usage time: I received this product on January 25, 2015, and from the date of this review, I have been using it for 25 days. I'll update my review periodically. *** Performance review: - Negatives. None. - Positives. (1) The heater I received does not emit any kind of odor. (2) None of the cords have melted. (3) Still working after 25 days of continued use. (4) Quickly and effectively heats up a 15 x 15 room. Notably, the room can get really, really hot when the device is set to maximum. (5) Quiet. Doesn't produce distracting sounds. *** Summary: I thoroughly enjoy this device and would recommend it to anyone seeking a quality product. If this device were to break down, I wouldn't hesitate to order it again from Amazon.com LLC. *** Important information from the manual regarding outlet requirements: (1) PLUG HEATERS DIRECTLY INTO A 120V WALL OUTLET/RECEPTACLE ONLY. NEVER USE WITH AN EXTENSION CORD. DO NOT PLUG HEATER INTO ANY OTHER CORD CONNECTED DEVICE, SUCH AS A POWER STRIP, SURGE PROTECTOR, MULTIPLE OUTLET ADAPTER, CORD REEL OR OUTLET-TYPE AIR FRESHENER. THE USE OF SUCH DEVICES MAY CREATE A FIRE HAZARD. DO NOT PLUG MULTIPLE DEVICES IN THE SAME OUTLET OR ON SAME CIRCUIT AS HEATER. (2) FAULTY WALL OUTLET CONNECTIONS MAY CAUSE THE WALL OUTLET TO OVERHEAT. BE SURE THAT HEATER PLUG FITS TIGHTLY INTO OUTLET BEFORE EACH USE. DURING USE, CHECK TO MAKE CERTAIN THE HEATER PLUG IS NOT OVERHEATING. IF NECESSARY HAVE A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN CHECK AND/OR REPLACE THE WALL OUTLET. DO NOT USE THIS HEATER WITH ANY SOLID STATE SPEED CONTROL DEVICES. (3) This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature. (4) Plug the cord set into a 120 volt outlet. Read more

This item was nothing I expected; it was so much MORE!! Much smaller than it appears in the picture. And much more powerful/useful than you'd imagine a space heater to be. I wanted a heater to supplement the nearly worthless ceiling heat in my 1 bedroom, vaulted ceilinged (is that even a word?!), apartment in Oregon. It's been down in the 20's & 30's for months now and, as heat rises, all of mine was better warming the squirrels on the roof than it was warming me down below. My electric bill was sky-high, too, and I was still cold. So, I purchased this little dynamo, thinking to carry it around with me to whatever room I was otherwise uncomfortable in at the time. NOT NECESSARY!!! Within minutes of plugging this baby in, the room was nice and toasty. The first day I had kept the back bedroom door shut and then carried the unit back when I went to bed. I have a cat that likes to wander at night so had to leave the bedroom door open. The next morning I realized the entire place was still warm. No need to shut off rooms or move the appliance around. In fact, what I did shut off was the central heating! UGH! What a relief!! I was going to wait till I saw my next utility bill to write my feedback. But there was a storm the day the meter reader was supposed to come out (or so the company told us), and I still don't know what the difference in heating cost will be. But, at this point, neither do I care. I am keeping my Lasko 5307 Oscillating Ceramic Tower Heater (on a low setting, by the way) as my preferred source of heat, whatever the cost... which I am positive will be much less than I was throwing away without it. So, THANK YOU, to all the other positive feedback customers who helped me choose this item wisely!😍. And, as always, great praise for Amazon. I have never been disappointed! Read more
