The instructions weren't as clear as I'd like. It doesn't say to set the time, you press the Mode button ONCE and then press either the hour or the minute button to the desired time. Then you wait until it stops blinking before pressing the mode button again to set the time you didnt't set previously (hour/minute - you can ony set one at a time) Without pressing the Mode button, you can press the hour button to change the alarm sound - cuckoo, rooster, some other sounds I missed. I was only interested in the cuckoo and rooster. I haven't deciphered the alarm setting with the alarm sounds, but I'm not likely to use that setting. I accidentally turned on the hourly announcement, but, yanno, that's OK. I don't mind it announcing the hour at work - wakes everyone up! There are 2 "B4" or "talk" buttons on this. Both work the same. Hold down the B$/Talk button and it plays the alarm sound. Fun for pranking co-workers. Putting in the batteries was easy. Getting the batteries out not so easy, but doable - I used a nail file to pop the first battery out, and the second came out easily. I like the display, it's large enough to see across my desk, and when I have visitors, I can turn the clock so they can track the time they spend at my desk and not be late returning to theirs. Happy-making all around. I did downgrade it a star because of having to figure out how to use it - the instructions were vague, probably because they were trying to mash instructions for different models of clocks into one set of instructions and so bypassed accuracy. I bought these for my visually impaired mother so she didn't have to wear her talking watch in the 95 degree heat. The large button at the top of these is very easy to find and she tells me all the time how great they are. They are on the small side, but they work well. Read more
