This is a good kit, has a few nice minifigures, but the price is a little high. The kit comes with 380 pieces, to average out to about $0.14-0.15 a part (at MSRP). Bad news, the Rancor is 19 pieces alone. So you are really getting a bare bone lego kit for a increased cost due to it being both "Lego" and "Star Wars". But if your a fan, then your a fan and you will pay. I do like how the new Jabbas palace stacks with this set, unfortunately the tower in Jabbas palace will need to be detached to stack, and gate must be closed when they are stacked. Minus these few gripes this is a great kit. The trap door in the palace does lead right to the Rancor pit which is nice. There are some nice minifigures to go along with the action of the set. The Rancor is huge! About twice the size of Jabba. I was watching Star Wars Episode 6 while put this together and my girlfriend quite frankly thinks I'm a bit nuts, but having the movie in the background only increases the fun factor of any Star Wars Lego set. Wish Lego would cut back the prices a bit but alas everything has been going up in cost. Check out the customer photos for my pictures. Read more

I'm not sure if it was the kids or myself that was more excited to see LEGO finally make a Rancor. Couple that fact with the ability to stack last year's Jabba's Palace (which we were fortunate enough to own) atop this set and you've got both parents and kids giddy with the fun of sending minifigures down that perilous trap door. The price point was always a bit groan worthy, as it is with all Star Wars LEGO sets, but the constant sales on this one made it easy to pick up for a bargain. The build is very straightforward and easy for the young builders in your house, and no stickers to fuss with. Great set, loads of fun, and great memories of the Kenner Rancor for the parents! We took the Rancor with us on our family vacation. Oh, and our children, too. This set combines with Jabba's palace to create an awesome two-tier Gamorrean Guard buffett for your Rancor, children, and lovers of Star Wars. The Rancor is the stand-out piece in the set. His claws have two independent fingers so that his hands open and close and can hold a minifigure easily. His jaw opens and closes and, most importantly, his mouth fits a whole minifigure. Our rancor dines regularly on Legos of all kinds. Though it was sort of a bummer to have to buy two sets, together with set 9516, Jabba's Palace, this set really takes my back to sitting on our carpet watching the VHS of Return of the Jedi over and over and over. My son has become very interested in recreating his favorite Star Wars scenes with LEGO sets. This set arrived on time for his birthday and required a couple of hours for us to put it together. The price seemed excessive for the 8"-10" of plastic that lay before us once assembly was completed, however, my son enjoyed it, and it rests on a shelf in room, now. The instructions are clear and concise, as are all the LEGO sets I have assembled. The packaged shipped and arrived quickly just in time for his party. Be aware, this set pairs with the now discontinued Jabba's Palace. Read more

This set is fun to build and a blast to get out and let the kids play with now and then. I purchased this in 2013 from Amazon and still have it together today (Jan. 2021). Great detail on the minifigures and a must have to complete any Star Wars LEGO collection. Read more

Got it for my son, it’s really cool and reminds me of the movie. But it’s crazy expensive and you need to buy the other Jaba thing that goes with it which is like another $300. When it’s all together it looks cool but a total rip off Read more

Let's face it, most large Lego sets (especially Star Wars) are rather pricey, but that's beside the point! This is a great set, quite accurate compared to the movie. Can be connected to Jabba's Palace which was a big draw for my 9-year-old. It was moderately easy for her to assemble (i.e., no help from mom or dad but it took her a couple of days, working a little and coming back to it). Everything I would expect from Lego. Read more
