Much, much better than I expected

Michael AlfaroJune 10, 2020

I anguished over the decision to buy a new 65" 4K TV. There were so many options and features to review and choose from that I honestly felt overwhelmed. After giving it some serious thought (and waffling back and forth a few times) I settled on the LG Nano and wow! I was blown away right from the start. I had no problem setting it up and the picture is amazing. Okay, I'm sure if I paid a couple thousand more the picture would be even MORE amazing but...I wouldn't have spent that money on a TV even if I had it. I'm not the kind to nitpick on the depth of blacks and any issues with light bloom (though I honestly felt the blacks were deep enough and I barely noticed any blooming!) I just wanted a bigger TV than my previous unit. This one is so light and thin. It's got a bunch of settings for the screen but the only one I really had to tweak was the one for my Nintendo Switch. Once I figured that out, perfection! The built-in WIFI and apps are great. I've used Disney +, You Tube, Amazon Prime, and the web browser, to name just a few, without any issues. The browser is a little slow and I need to get a bluetooth keyboard as the onscreen is a pain. However, there is a voice feature so I can always opt for that...and I do! I have no regrets buying this TV and would definitely recommend it to my friends. Read more

Fantastic TV

This LG is not the highest end HD TV, but for the money it sure delivers a great experience. We were looking between this and the comparable Samsung, and we are very happy with our choice. Really good picture, easy operating system (there are some quirks at points but overall easy to use), not bad sound, but you do have to get past the privacy thing where you have to submit your information and connections for the total capabilities. I eventually caved as it is a much better experience with all of the functions. Would buy it again and would recommend it as the HD TV to buy at this price point. Read more

Love this TV more than my $2,000 Sony Bravia!

CynthiatxrnApril 13, 2020

Love this TV! I paid over $2,000 for an 85” Sony Bravia for my living room & this TV is waaaay better than that one! All the complaints I’ve read in reviews must be from a different model of LG tv cause this TV is awesome! This is the Nano Cell LG TV, not the 4k Ultra HD. I think maybe the complaints are for that model cause the Nano Cell screen has one of the best qualities. The smart features on this TV are the coolest I have ever seen and the picture quality is amazing! It was easy to set up. Love the remote! I have an expensive universal remote that I use for everything, but the remote that came with this LG tv is so cool, I still want to use it. You can even search the web, google search, & anything that u could do online with a tablet or pc, you can do with this TV! I was so amazed by it. (I’m old, so easily amazed by new technology. Lol). I had a 45”smart LG HD tv for over 10 years in my bedroom and it still works just like new, so I wanted another LG tv in my bedroom to upgrade the old one... after all the negative reviews on the new LG tv’s, we went with a Sony Bravia for the living room, but after purchasing this one for the bedroom, I wish I had gotten an LG for the living room too. I have had so many issues with the Sony Bravia & it doesn’t have near all the features this TV has. The LG is also more user friendly. I have nothing negative to say about this tv. It arrived very quickly and the delivery guy even brought it up the stairs for me. The table top stand that came with it was nice, well made, & sturdy, but we ended up wall mounting the tv anyway. I liked how all the wires could be hidden in the stand, it was a cool feature. I still haven’t found all the amazing features available on this TV. It connected flawlessly to my iphone, Alienware laptop, & Alexa echo! I had no issues displaying my laptop desktop onto this TV screen. I also now have no real use for my 4K apple TV anymore cause this TV can download ALL the same apps, even Apple Plus TV! It also has it’s own built in cable program if u needed it. It has all the music apps (spotify, pandora, etc) and can easily stream music from my iphone, laptop, or music apps as well. Amazon Alexa is also built in, although I still use an Alexa echo in this room cause u need the remote to do any Alexa voice commands on the TV. I can control the tv with my Alexa echo. There’s so much to this tv I can’t even put it all in this review. The sound quality is great for built in speakers. With my old LG I had to buy a sound bar cause the built in speakers were horrible, not on this one. I haven’t turned the volume above 20 cause it is so loud. I don’t even need a soundbar unless I want surround sound speakers which I may get in the future. If u want a great picture, good sound quality, & sooo many smart features, get this TV! You won’t be disappointed. Just make sure it’s the Nano Cell HD model. Read more

A maddening purchase (has improved over time.)

D. BeachJanuary 24, 2020

Update: after six months the picture quality has improved considerably. Since we use a Roku box, Netflix and a number of other services work fine. And we still think the remote us the best ever............. First, let me say the remote is wonderful. Once we figured it out, it really does control all our inputs and the set really well. The picture quality was terrible at first, tending to compress blacks really badly. Once we got thru the various menus and tweaked picture settings, the picture quality is fairly good, although it sometimes tends to jump in brightness as if it's overcorrecting, and it varies a lot by input. We have 4 HDMI inputs in use. When setting up the set, there is a "nag" screen which wants the owner to agree to a lot of vague legalese, having to do with their use of your viewing information, before you can use many of its features. In fact, we cannot use it with Netflix, or Amazon ALEXA at all, apparently until we agree to let our use information be collected. Had we known this before, we would not have bought this set. The picture quality seems to have stabilized to being adequate, but not much more. But we expected far better quality. To add insult to injury, when I went to Amazon's website to check on the features advertised (no mention is made that the set is useless for built-in "smart" services without signing away our information,) I discovered that two days after they shipped this set it was dropped $200 in price. Amazon's answer was to send it back for a refund and buy it again at the new price, which made no sense. In total, we have a set which has only an adequate picture, does not actually provide much of its functionality without our viewing being tracked, and continues to hound us to sign it before we can do anything (we've found a way around that.). This set is too much hassle, not a competitive picture quality, and riddled with complex and maddening intrusion into our viewing habits. And since I already destroyed the boxes it came in, we cannot return it. Were it not for that, it would be going back. Read more
