First of all, I did not receive one that had a hole in the middle, or rough spots in the interior. It is a gorgeous piece of cast iron, I’m so happy with this purchase! I was able to cook 5 bone in pork chops, with plenty of room, no crowding what so ever! The pre-seasoned surface was a charm, none of my coating from the pork chops stuck to the bottom of the skillet! All I did was preheat a little bit of oil to coat the skillet, before placing the breaded pork chops into the pan. Heat distribution was perfect. The weight is substantial, it’s cast iron what can I say. I can’t wait to fry chicken in it next, not to mention so many other dishes that I know are going to turn out perfect! This skillet is a game changer for my cooking adventures! Don’t hesitate to purchase, thinking you will be very pleased if you do. Read more

I've wanted this skillet for a LONG time, but when I saw the Yellowstone version, I took the plunge. I'm so glad I did! Even though I live in a 2 person household, there are so many uses for this skillet. For the skillet's maiden voyage, I was able to cook almost an entire loaf of challah bread for French Toast in one batch! I have a glass top stove and the largest burner is 11 inches across. The bottom cooking surface of the pan is 14 inches, so I have a "cooler zone" around the perimeter of the pan. I actually like it, because as the French Toast slices cooked quickly in the center area of the pan, I could move them to the outer edge to basically keep warm. The pan is so large, you could also set the skillet off-center of the burner, so you have the "hot zone" for cooking and the "cool zone" for the portion of the pan off the burner, to keep cooked foods warm. You really can't create 2 cooking zones for a 10 or 12 inch skillet, because they aren't big enough. I attached pictures to demonstrate the size of this skillet. The man holding the pan is 6'1, so you get an idea of just how big this skillet really is. Even for 2 people, this skillet will get a lot of use. I thought it would be great to grill onions and peppers for fajitas on the stove, while the meat is cooking on the outdoor grill. Tortilla comal, anyone? I think this would cook a 12 inch flour tortilla, or 3-4 corn tortillas, no problem! And of course, the ultimate turkey roaster! With regard to baking, just how many cinnamon rolls could this pan hold? Being a loyal Lodge cast iron customer, I can honestly say I have zero regrets with purchasing this size skillet, even for 2 people. I hope you give it a try! Read more

This can cook a one pan skillet meal for a family of 9 easily. I cooked on this size at my aunts house not to long ago and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, I could not convince her to let me have hers. However, I found it here and it was a lot cheaper than I expected. I did buy this one, more expensive than the regular one, because it came quicker. I also chose this one so we can tell the difference between mine and my aunts. I have several lodge pieces and 90% of the time we cook on cast iron. The only time we don't use cast iron is when we're boiling water, we use stainless steel for that. This pan is a bit heavy and doesn't necessarily fit in the sink very well to clean it, however it's still worth it and I may buy a 2nd one in the future. Read more

I love it! Besides that is large enough that you can cook Bacon Eggs and Hashbrown in it at the same time, the only other thing on my wish list would be, that Lodge would start to flatten/polish the cooking surface on all their cast iron pans. I do it on all my pans afterwards, anything you cook in it gets a much better browning when you do. Read more

So far, cooked 6 large burgers at one time, then a dozen eggs. Great skillet . Food hot when served, easy cleanup. Lodge makes a great quality cast iron skillet, I have 8 skillets, roaster pots, for years. Good value for the money, one skillet is over 50 years old from my mom. Read more
