I found this as a late find. I think a website had a list of games similar to Dark Souls. I found this and it looked fun, got it, and started to play it. There are many mechanics that are like Dark Souls. The game itself started a little harder than Dark Souls, but as soon as you figure out the mechanics, it is much easier. I think I beat the first boss with the basic area weapons in one shot, without taking a hit (got some special colored weapon?). Some of the other bosses are much harder but much more manageable than Dark Souls. The combat is similar, but again a little easier. Some enemies are near impossible still. But some are simple. Unfortunately, the weapons don't feel as upgradable as Dark Souls or Bloodborne. Yes, you gets runes and you can play with the effects in your weapons. But those runes feel pretty limited in effects and how to use them. The weapons overall don't all feel super powerful. Sometimes in Demon Souls/Dark Souls you would get a new weapon and it would be game changing, but not so much here. And if there is a really different weapon, it is usually an odd mechanic such as a long swing hammer or two-handed weapon. Don't underestimate the daggers, though. I was having trouble with one boss in the graveyard (forgot name). And I tried a faster swing sword, heavy axe, hammer, etc and nothing seemed to work. I then tried with duel wield daggers, and wow they tear up a boss if you keep your armor on light and just dodge and evade. That can be harder because 2-3 hits and you are dead, but if you are a Dark Souls vet it shouldn't be hard at all. Overall, GREAT game at a great price. Go for it! Harder and little unforgiving start, but gets easier quicker. There are some tough spots still, and some spots that are overly difficult, but this is a great game. Read more

If you like the Dark Souls series you will enjoy this game. It's a slower game, movement is slower, hits are slower but it's in a way more realistic to what you'd imagine a knight swinging an axe the size of a building. I admit it to some adjustment to get used to the gameplay and movement style. I would hear myself say, "MAN this is slower and more brutal than Dark Souls" but once I played it for awhile it made sense and actually really enjoyed it. Honestly, if you like Dark Souls type of games than I'd suggest this game. It really felt like Darksiders and Dark Souls joined together and out came Lords of the Fallen. Some advice, DON'T go into this game thinking you can play it like Dark Souls. It's very similar but the gameplay and style of gameplay is slower and more methodical but once you figure that out and adjust your mindset to how this game plays, it's actually alot of fun and has given me more outbursts of frustration than Dark Souls. I'm currently playing Dark Souls 3 and this at the same time. Really enjoying it. Read more

BEWARE! I picked this up when the reviews said it was easier than souls but similar combat. That was not true. This game is every bit as frustrating and unenjoyable as dark souls. I put 4.5 hours into souls before tossing that crap in the trash. This game got a similar treatment. For those not familiar with the souls series, it's a game purposely made to be unforgiving on the player. I play games to have fun, not to have to roll around dodging and running away/around enemies I have already killed three times. This game is set to a hard difficulty and you can't change it. There is very little guidance given on how to properly master the combat. You can spend an hour fighting through some enemies to get to a new area. You run out of health potions before killing them all, you have to go back to a certain point to fill them back up, but doing so respawns all the enemies in the game. You have to then go back and grind back through them, and if you don't do it more perfectly than last time, you get to start it all over. If you die, you lose all the experience you gained where you died, the enemies will respawn again so now you have to fight your way back to it. I finally quit after running out of potions for the fourth time from the same set of gruelling, overpowered enemies. If you hated souls, you will hate this. Read more

I brought this game b/c it was similar to dark souls. The game mechanics are awful and I quickly lost interest in the game. The visuals are beautiful though Read more
