Have you ever used something and thought "wow, I didn't know they made these this nicely"? Well, that's how I felt when I used this Mad Shark paring knife. Let me start by saying that I'm not a chef (nowhere close) and haven't owned any "premium" kitchen knives. When I got this one, it made a positive impression starting with the packaging. It's a nice box with a magnetic lid, and the knife is very well packed in it. If you wanted to give this knife as a gift, it's a great package for that. When I unpacked it, I was struck by the quality of the materials and that it felt well-built. It's very smooth, very nicely finished, it just feels like quality. The ergonomics of the handle are the best of any knife I've owned. That would certainly be influenced by the size and shape of your hand, but the shape, balance, and weight of the knife felt to me as if it were saying "I'm ready to cut something!" The cutting experience was also very good. This is a paring knife, but I used it to trim, cut vegetables, and cut grilled chicken. It went through everything as if it were cutting warm butter. I'm very happy with this knife and am glad to recommend it to any of my family and friends. Read more

This is my first Mad Shark knife and I’m quite pleased with it. First of all it arrived in a very nice box that would be suitable for a gift. The magnetic closure box also has an abundance of harder foam to protect the paring knife. The knife is nicely finished with a full tang, steel alloy end cap, extremely sharp blade and 2 pins, one of which is a mosaic pin. I mention the steel alloy end cap, which the entire blade and tang are made from, since on the box they mention that they added, “C (carbon), CR (chromium), MO (molybdenum), V (vanadium), CO (cobalt) give it super high hardness and long-lasting sharpness”. It’s arrived extremely sharp and cuts great, plus it easily performed the paper edge test. The other thing that I like about this paring knife is the full handle. Many other paring knifes that I’ve used in the past have had “mini” handles or narrow ones. I can put my large/Xlarge hand solidly around the oval handle and get a good grip. Plus, the handle has some ergonomic curves to it. Is this the best knife out there, no, but it’s a great knife at this price point. Read more

The MAD SHARK paring knife comes nestled in foam inside a dark green presentation box, making it a perfect gift. Out of the box it is a high-quality item with obvious attention to detail. My first test of a new knife is will it pass the paper test and will it thinly slice tomatoes. I'm pleased to report it did both perfectly and without an initial honing. The knife has a full tang and is nicely machined with insets for the handles. There is some nice detailing with the Mad Shark logo on the blade and the heel. as well as embossed rivets. The blade measures 3 1/2-inches. For a paring knife it is heavy but is well balanced. The slight curve of the handle fits my hand comfortably. (I wear a size large glove). The handle is smooth but not slippery. There is no mention of the type of steel used other than it is stainless steel. The handle is not wood but a composite. And finally, at the current price it is very reasonable. Read more

This is my new favorite parer. I love almost everything about it. Pros BALANCED: Its design and full tang allows for a effortless use. BEAUTIFUL HANDLE: Its sleek black handle is rounded and comfortable in hand. BOLSTER ANGLE (not bolioue angle): The slant between the blade and handle adds to the look and provides a resting place for thumb and forefinger during use -- or added separation between blade and handle if you're less knife savvy. PERFECT SIZE: Heftier than my other parers, this knife fits a sweet spot when you need a quick peel, slice, or dice. Con ROLLS: Although I love the rounded handle, I hate that the knife rolls when I sit it down on the cutting board. A towel is the fix, but there you go. The knife arrives beautifully packaged. It is well crafted and without flaws. This is my second Mad Shark knife, and I highly recommend if you need a heftier paring knife. Read more

My husband is the main cook in this household and he likes high quality knives as he has worked restaurant for his whole life. He was really impressed by this knife. It has a silly brand name but it’s truly a top notch item. It’s a very well built and good looking paring knife. It has great feel in the hand and the handle fits nicely in his hand, even though he has larger hands. The weight / balance of it is very impressive. The blade is very sharp and cuts smoothly and cleanly. We have some very expensive knives in our home and this one compares to them easily at a fraction of the price. If you’re in need of a solid paring knife you can’t go wrong with this gem. Read more
