My desk chair with a 190 pound load does not sink into this floor mat placed on carpet. As others have said, this mat will walk across carpet faster than a 3 year old. I ended up using wide, double sided gel tape from Walmart to stick this new mat to my old mat that had nubs and a few cracks. No more walking. Fortunately, the old mat was slightly larger and could be trimmed to match the new mat. Five star rating because the mat matches the description, arrived quickly with no damage and has fabrication details, like tapered edges and a lightly textured surface that others don’t. This mat speaks quality at first sight. 12/18/25 Update - The mat has only moved about 1/8" . Remember, the new mat is attached to the old mat that has nubs. It's much more robust that the cheapo I got from Staples. Being thicker, the chair rolls better. However, they do say it's suitable for hardwood and carpet. I have it on carpet, and my only complaint is that it does move around. I do have to reposition it as it slides on the carpet. The bottom is very smooth and if they want to rate it for carpet use, they really should include the little "tits" on the bottom to prevent sliding. Read more

My office is floored with office carpet tiles laid over concrete. It's not a "soft" carpet floor by any means. The mat is thick enough to not deform at all on my floor. My chair rolls smoothly and comfortably. The mat is not prone to sliding around on my floor - but the desk-side edge is between between the desk's feet, which helps keep the mat in place. There was no odor to the mat. An issue I had is that it is shipped between two squares of cardboard that are held together with tape. There was no "box", more like a large cardboard envelope. The tape had come apart on two sides, and I'm glad the delivery person cared enough to make sure the item was delivered. Read more

This chair pad comes flat-packed and is thick with edging so it looks nice and has no creases. Other than that, don't buy it if you need it for thick carpeted floors. It moves all over the place and never stays put. It has a glossy side and slightly textured side. The glossy side goes face down for wood floors and textured side face-up. We have thick-pile carpet, and this just disappoints for our needs. It's quite pricey for it not to work as stated. Read more

It’s getting harder and harder to find these good thick chair mats, but they are worth the extra price. I tried to save money with a thinner one and it didn’t last a year on thin carpet despite claiming to. These do not warp or bend, and are very hard to break. Save your floors and your sanity and spend the extra on quality the FIRST time. Read more

This is in no way a high pile carpet pad as it claims... it slides all over the place on the carpet and has to be moved back into place every 45-60 minutes. The mat itself even has a sticker on it from the manufacturer stating for HARD FLOORS ONLY. It would be a fantastic mat for hard floors but should never be used on thicker carpets.
