I have been looking to get a clean and crisp water for my family without going through drilling and installing permanent RO filters in my home. This countertop water filter is so perfect to use, clean and move. Installation is breeze easy, the weight is also less so I can easily carry and move anywhere I want. I love that it comes with glass jar and an additional mineral filter attached to it to add minerals back to the water. The water tastes clean and crisp. The difference in taste is easily noted when compared directly to tap water and brita filters. Only one thing I find that would have been better is if the water tank was given on the side of the filter rather than in the back, it would have been more easier. It also comes with a small tool to twist the filter to remove it and place it back. The instructions are very clear on the manual as well as on the filter itself. I originally bought this both the get rid of the heavy metal in my tap water since I live in the northeast now, and also to use it for my humidifiers. It looked like a genuine design that many other brands have as well. However, I love the design which separates the remineralize filter from the main cartridge and is placed on the included pitcher, which gave me the ability to put unmineralized water to my humidifiers to prevent scale. If you'd rather not alter the way your kitchen looks underneath the sink, then countertop solutions should be the top choice for you. It doesn't take a lot of space which I like very much. In fact, it's just about the same footprint as a coffee maker which we all have space for, right? It's advertised as an 8-stage filtration system. And I guess that's technically correct but those are referring to the number of filter mediums inside what's clearly just a single filter system. So FYI there. It does eliminate that chlorine, tap taste and removes dissolved solids which the user can add back for taste and water softness. It has a decent 3:1 water to waste ratio which is a very big pro to consider in RO systems. For every 3 gallons it produces, it only "wastes" 1 gallon of water. This waste system is inherent to RO systems and what makes RO systems so effective both in terms of filter life and in the filtration itself! A very good factor to consider especially if the user is paying for water bills themselves. I did deduct a point as this is yet another system that uses proprietary filters to keep its users on a permanent "subscriptions". The fact that the filter for this product is out of stock only adds qualms to my concerns raised as thus. All in all, I'd give it a 4 out of 5 stars. Read more

Recently bought a country home and discovered our well water had a high total dissolved solids count. We were in need of a reverse osmosis system and after doing some research we decided to give the Ecoviva a try. Overall we our very happy with this purchase. Most importantly the water tastes great. The unit fits nicely on our countertop. It only takes a couple minutes and we have a carafe full of filtered water. Our ratio of good water to throw out water is more like 2.5 to 1, but I think that may be due to our TDS count is above the recommended safe limit of 500ppm.
