I already fly. Often. With lightning. This simulator demands buttons, patience, and gravity. The sky feels constrained, the clouds lack fear, and I crashed repeatedly despite centuries of aerial experience. Immersive for mortals, but deeply inaccurate to a god of thunder. Read more

Not as good as the 2004 version, plus runs slower as a Steam model. Still have not found a way to load the model plane I actually fly into the program or change the tail number to my liking. Had to do a lot of leg work getting my Saitek hardware to work correctly and still don't have it working well for any of the jet profiles. For what it actually cost, it's not a bad investment. You need SP1 & SP2 (or the acceleration pack-inlu of SP2) for this to really be good, and work. This software is excellent, thousands of free upgrades, planes, airports, and scenery. YouTube videos on how to do everything. Highly recommended. It's successor although visually stunning, is a mess, DO NOT RECOMMEND MSFS-2020, until all the bugs and downloading issues are resolved. Places extreme constraints on any marginal PC, so if you do it, make sure your PC is at top of food chain. A minimum of Intel I-7 10K+ processor, 8 cores, 32GB DDDR4/5, Nvidia RTX 3090, 1TB SSD Primary and at least same as secondary drives. At least 4K monitor to enjoy it, expect lots of growing pains, and frustrations. Read more

You know? It's really a sad thing when Microsoft Flight got out of the Flight Simulator Business. My STEAM loaded into the Computer fine and good. But when I went to launch it and play the game it would NOT launch due to Windows 10 being updated. So here I sit not being able to play the Game at all?? I have had No trouble with FSX GOLD EDITON on WINDOWS 7 or 7 ULTIMATE. I'm trying to find a fix along with many others left out in the cold by this problem??? I received a message that STEAM is working with Microsoft on this fix and problem. WHEN you a buy a product IT SHOULD WORK PERIOD! If anyone can help me with this? I'm all Ears. A FRUSTRATED PILOT. I have read other reviews and they have said the STEAM is stable, better, smoother. I just wish STEAM WOULD GET IT TOGERHER. FOR NOW I HAVE TO SAY 0 STARS! Thanks! Read more

For aviation enthusiasts, FSX is a blast. Steam, not so much. A big part of your FSX experience will be depend on your pc and gpu performance as well as your control set-up. That said, FSX can offer a fun and educational simulated flying experience. I am a pilot and have been using MS flight software from the first edition. My negative opinion on the Steam edition had to with download and configuration issues. The problems were resolved, but the support is very limited and you have to track down answers on your own. It was a frustrating experience and am still not thrilled that it is dependent on this platform. Other than that, love the software. Read more

The good: they did fix some really annoying bugs and glitches. It will run on Windows 7 now. But it’s still just FSX, albeit running the way it should have in the first place. The less good: For me it will only run in an Administrative account, where it has access to everything (pictures, tax records, etc.) I can’t get it to run in a more secure and limited Standard User account; it has to be “Run as administrator”. The main “Steam” program window has to be running (in an Administrative account) before FSX Steam will start. You can't run it without Steam knowing it. While installing, it (Steam) inserted itself into the list of start-up applications that start and run in the background when the computer boots. So it starts regardless of whether I want to run one of their games or not. There is simply no good reason for it to be running when I’m not running one of their games! So, what is it doing, in the background? (Run MSCONFIG to see what all is starting at boot-up; it’s scary!) If you’re paranoid, like me, you might want to give this serious thought before installing it. Read more

Does not work with Windows 10. Takes a long time to download or switch modes. Product support is slow to the point of being nonexistent. Controls for the simulated planes frequently simply quit, requiring reloading of the software. Read more
