These things are amazing. While advertised as cooking rice in minutes, We have bought several now for us and friends and all of them replaced our rice cookers. We still kept ours for bigger parties we throw but for a family to have some food for dinner or lunch, excellent. 2cups rice 3 cups water and 14min on a 1000watt microwave. Yes this is how long rice takes normal. this is a set and forget. If you are the type who likes the "Crunchy" bottom scrape, avoid this. All the rice is cooked and easy to clean. Good also for a Dorm or small micro kitchen where space is premium and you are not cooking for a ton of guests. ----- My rating system: 5 Stars – The product went above and beyond what was expected. This includes thoughtful extras in the package or small touches that weren’t used as selling points. It surprised me in a good way. Rarely given. 4 Stars – The product met all advertised features and included a bit extra—something that made it stand out. A nice “above and beyond” effort without being excessive. 3 Stars – I got exactly what I paid for. The item works as described, nothing more, nothing less. It arrived on time and in the condition expected. This is a passing grade, not a bad review. 2 Stars – Item had minor issues: scuffs or missing non-essential parts (not from shipping box damage). Quite thin and rather cheaply made. Microwave cooks the rice fine though. Hard to snap the 5 fastening snaps. I liked my original rice cooker which was sturdier and only had two easy to snap down fasteners. But I burned it up trying to cook a little less than a cup (rice measuring cup) of rice. The water boiled away and it all melted stinking up the whole house. I suggest never cooking less than 2 rice measuring cups of rice in any microwave cooker. Read more

I tried this for the first time this evening with some brown rice. I followed the very sparse directions just adding additional water as I'd normally do when cooking brown rice on the stove top. Since there were no directions to speak of, I went online to determine the amount of time to cook the rice. That varied from 15 to 50 minutes. I decided to try 15 minutes. Checked the rice at 15 minutes, not done so tried another 15. At about 10 minutes I smelled something burning and checked the rice. Not only was it burned to a crisp but the rice cooker had melted on the bottom; I had to pry it off the glass turntable tray. The whole mess went into the garbage and I then had to air out the house to get the burnt smell out. Not impressed. Better directions would have helped immensely. A waste of my time and money.
