If you seek the historical Mikasa quality DO NOT buy these glasses. My first set of the Mikasa Cheers double old fashioned glasses was gifted to me over 30 years ago. We loved the patterns and the weight, thick heavy bottoms and quality of the glasses that we used every day and were fine in the dishwasher. Over the years as a few broke (because of people accidents – not the glass quality) we would buy a new set. The feel of the glass in hand, the patterns and quality continued the same. August 2025 I ordered another set. They are terrible. Thin cheap glass, thinner bottom, weight now light at 9 5/8 oz versus the prior 15 1/8 oz. – one broke right away - glass splintered all directions – sharp shards. Glasses are poor quality and dangerous especially around children and pets who could be cut when they break and splinter. Read more

I have been a fan of Macasa glassware for many years and I’ve never been disappointed. These glasses are absolutely perfect. Nice design a nice amount of liquid easy to handle. I’ve already enjoyed them several times with friends. If you know how to place them in the upper rack of the dishwasher so they don’t touch anything. You won’t have any problems with chipping. I'm a little amazed that everyone is so polarized regarding these glasses. I have a set of 4 (about 3-4 years old). We don't use them all that often, and was disappointed that one of them cracked about 6 months ago. So I was thinking about ordering another set. I really like them, and haven't seen anything else with quite the style these have. But they do seem to be more fragile than most. At $35 for a set of 4, I'm still debating. BUT, the fact that I'm debating even though I know they are fragile should tell you how much I like what I have. Too fragile, so they're not a 5. But they're really nice, so it's a solid 4 from me.
