Top Notch Solution. Very High Quality Gun

ANDREWDecember 16, 2010✓ Verified purchase

I did a lot of research on heat guns. I wanted a very high quality product, a professional grade heat gun with accurate temp management. I also wanted one with a ceramic heating element(Does anyone know if this gun is food safe? creme brule?). This is it. Great buy for around 150.00 this seems to be the best thing at a sub industrial level on the market. Product is very well constructed, feels solid but not to heavy. Heats up very rapidly. The temp control switch is a up and down switch so it takes a sec to get the exact temp but you will get the hang of the controls in just a minute. The unit also has a built in stand so it can sit upright with the heat nozzle pointed up. They don't really show this in the pictures on amazon but it is another nice feature of a top notch gun. Only had for a night so I can't talk about the long term but this seems like a very fine product and well worth the money to not have to fumble around with guessing the temp if you want variable control. Way better than cheap-o 40.00 heat gun for professional grade activity. Computer chip adjusts temp based on airflow. I had a bit of a shipping snafu as this was my first time using amazons local express same day service in new york city. The carrier was a day late on delivery and difficult to contact. A-1 International. They did a poor job of communicating and lied about delivering the package. When I finally did contact them and ask why they told amazon they delivered it yesterday they said they had no explanation. that was it. no explanation. just shrugs. Amazon.com did a great job though and other than a poor choice of carrier it wasn't their fault. When I called amazon and told them the problem they were extremely professional and did everything in their power to resolve the issue and keep me as Customer. Even waiting the whole day for something to not arrive that i needed to complete a project, I will continue to shop amazon because their problem resolution was world class. I would however suggest avoiding the local express if it is a-1. Amazon please use FedEx or UPS, we will pay a few more dollars for reliability and looks shady for such a bleeding edge tech company as amazon to do business with these guys.. just look at their website and package tracker... it's like geocities for pete sake.. Couldn't ask for a better heat gun for the money. Read more

Functional and durable

If you want a heat gun that's engineered to inevitably fail, this is not the product for you -- you can buy something a lot cheaper. If you want a serious and dependable tool that adapts to any task, this heat gun is worth every penny. Mine has been through 5 years of daily use and is still as good as the day I bought it. My favorite feature is the variable temperature control and digital readout. For my purposes, it has been incredibly useful to be able to set the heat gun to the actual temperature I need rather than have to make do with just low and high settings. The range goes from lower than a hair dryer to as high as you'd need to incinerate much of what you see around you, plus anything in between. A note on the heat control slider: It's true that a more precise control could be nice. However, I didn't downgrade the product for that. It's quite easy to set the heat gun to the temperature you need. While it takes some fiddling to get the output to an exact temperature, there are hardly any heat gun applications where it's really important to replicate a temperature to so precisely. With a heat gun that goes up to 1100 degrees, plus/minus 5 or 10 really doesn't matter. In fact, what makes it tricky is less the slider than the fact that the digital readout displays that actual temperature of the air rather than the position of the control. It takes a little time for the reading to stabilize as the gun heats up, and it can vary slightly as the thermostat kicks on and off. I love my Milwaukee heat gun. Read more

Disappointing lifetime

Cub DriverDecember 11, 2017✓ Verified purchase

I bought this, used it for about 3 hours and it worked well. Impressive delivery of hot air, and I used it to warm plastic so that it could be formed. It was not used again until months later, at which time it was inoperative. No heating, no air flow. When I inquired with Milwaukee repair facilities near my office I was told that it was best to just purchase another one, in that it was too expensive to repair. This is very disappointing, and not what I have come to expect from Milwaukee equipment. I wouldn't buy this one again. Read more

2 Years of hard labor

P. TurickNovember 12, 2013✓ Verified purchase

Worked as good as a Steinel IMO. Made in Romania. Ceramic encapsulated heating element, heavy duty construction & removable air filter were best features for me. Worked it hard for many hours since buying in April 2011. First problem was the cord protector at the base which split open from use after 1+ years. This allowed the cord to kink and break one conductor. Fixed it myself by disassembling, shortening the cord a couple of inches & wrapped the split protector w/ electrical tape. Second fatal was fan bearing failure here at 2 1/2 years. You can buy parts from the manufacturer but a new unit at this point was indicated(and probably not much more expensive but definitely less hassle). 5 year warranty does not include normal wear for using it hard, unfortunately. Price was much higher here on Amazon 3 yrs later. Found one on Google Shopping for $50 less & shipped free. Vape on. Read more
