I did a TON of research online via Reddit, Google, and multiple other sources, and found that these were the perfect fit for my son as a starter chef set. He has worked in a kitchen for a couple of years now and was super impressed with the quality of the steel in these knifes. They cut perfectly; they are weighted nicely (which allows him to practice and learn the functionality of each individual knife). So far, they have functioned quite well, and due to the weight, appear to be quite easy to use! Arrived nice and sharp. They're lighter weight than I expected, but that makes them very nice to work with over an extended period of time. I bought these as a gift for my teen son & he's really enjoying working with them! The "finger protectors" seem a bit awkward and flimsy, but we've never used anything like them before, so I don't know what thickness they would normally be. The outer carrying case is well made and makes it super easy to keep them all in the same place. The individual blade covers are a great safety feature as well. Super happy with these! Read more
