We have been on the hunt for a music player like this for kids for years. This ticks all the boxes, easy to lock down while giving kids freedom to listen to their music. I love that you can use a variety of music apps, and even Libby to check out books from the library. We wanted something safe for our son to listen to music without having internet access and this is perfect! Sound quality is great. Easily connects to his headphones and mini speaker. I don’t like that parent controls aren’t pass-coded, so when he figures it out, he can turn the pre-downloaded apps back on, but we will deal with that when the time comes. Read more

My 10-year-old daughter absolutely loves this! She's able to listen to Spotify kids and has brought her great joy. We ended up also purchasing some open ear Bluetooth headphones so that way she doesn't get in trouble when we are calling her and she's jamming on her mp3 lol. Read more

This MP3 player is an enigma to me. While it is advertised as having limited controls, you definitely can install the PlayStore and some additional apps. For example, I was able to install YouTube app (see attached picture). Still, other apps will not install such as Facebook Messenger. Overall, the device is sufficient for a child. It's essentially like an old Android phone. It's running on Android 14, so keep your expectations in check. Sound and video quality are decent but not spectacular. Similarly, the touch screen controls are finicky but functional. The device does have very low memory and gets warm after prolonged use. I like the rubber case, but I wish there was a screen protector with it as kids tend to break these screens. One major downside of the device is I did not find a way to put a password on the parental controls app, so nothing stops a child from changing which apps can and can't be accessed. Device connectivity is fine for Wi-Fi - I had no issues connecting to my Wi-Fi network. The device looks fun for kids, with bright colors and attractive colorful icons. Overall, the device provides reasonable value for the money. Still, I would recommend an old Android phone over this device any day. A used Android phone will be cheaper and more capable than this device. Read more

I use this MP3 player for my child so they can listen to music safely. The parental controls give me peace of mind. It’s easy to use and works well with Bluetooth headphones. I got this MP3 player for my 9-year-old, and overall it’s been a great fit. I actually love that it’s low tech—no browser, no random apps, just music and stories so my kid can stay focused without distractions. The big touchscreen and simple icons make it easy for her to use on her own. She likes that it looks like a "little phone" but it's not. It comes with Spotify Kids, Audible Kids, and other apps already installed, so she was able to start listening right away. Great for music, audiobooks, and bedtime stories. The battery lasts all day, and the lightweight case is perfect for tossing in her backpack. It can be a little finicky at times. Sometimes an app takes an extra second to load or needs a quick restart but once it’s running, it works smoothly. If you wanted more freedom or apps then you're better off with an old phone.
