works great for me. I did alot of research online before settling on this unit. I needed something that was large enough to heat and cool a 2car garage. I purchased this to cool my two car garage which has a pool table, darts, and TV in it. Of course, during a hot summer day 100 degrees outside, I'm not expecting it to get very cool, but it keeps the garage around 82-85. In the evenings, it works great, keeps the temp at 78. On days when its cooler outside, like in the 80's, it has no problem keeping the room cool. I've only used the heater once, and it worked ok. Outside was in the 50's, and it kept the room in the 70's. I vented this through the outside wall. Also, this summer our house A/C broke and we were without air conditioning for three days waiting on parts. Luckily it was only in the 90's outside. We moved this portable unit to our master bedroom and vented out the window and it worked great to keep our room a chilly 76 while the rest of the house was 90. This unit is not made well. We had to duct tape the tube to the unit because it kept falling off. The fan part is small and doesn’t feel like a lot of air comes out, and I wish there was an oscillating option. The air that comes out is cold, but does not circulate. Plus, it is so loud! We have to turn the tv up. This is not a good a/c unit. I wish I could send back but it too much of a pain. Read more

The unit fails to cool the room at all, and it's extremely loud. Extremely dissatisfied - this unit is NOT 14,000 BTU, it cannot cool a ONE BEDROOM APARTMENT with the bedroom door shut. Lastly, it arrived with the side panel door taped shut. Upon removing the tape, it won't close! Ah, makes sense why they taped it, it's broken. Cosmetic defect, mainly - but still a problem. This is the second portable AC of this size I have purchased. It cools well so overall I am happy. The draw back is the drain. I find this to be an issue with this type of product. While it states you will not need to empty it, on humid days you will have to. The drain is so close to the floor that you need to put something under the AC to bring it up so you can get a pan underneath it, especially on carpet. This is true with the other model I have as well. What I really don't like is that this one has a two plug system so you must remove a plastic plug then a rubber stopper in order to drain the unit. The rubber stopper is almost impossible to get in and out as it so tight so your really struggle with this. I tried leaving the rubber piece out and just using the plastic piece but then it leaks all the time. Read more

Installed this unit in my 2-car garage. Was a little concerned that the room would be too large to cool, but my garage is north-facing and is insulated so I gave it a shot. I was pleased that this thing actually drops the temperature a good 5 degrees per hour. I installed a permanent vent and drain through the wall, as I did not want to empty a water tank every day and had no stationary window. Having the exhaust hose exit straight through the wall actually helps with efficiency, too. So far, very happy with this purchase! Read more

I ordered this on sale during the 2013 Labor Day heatwave in L.A. The item arrived quickly from Amazon, and the packaging made it very easy to remove with the box detaching from the bottom. By the way, you might want to have someone help you with moving the box around since it was about 70-80 lbs. The installation itself was pretty straightforward and took about 20 minutes. The window kit that came with the unit was more than enough for our 4 ft tall sliding windows. We also have a window screen, but we didn't have to remove it for the installation. The only thing I would add is a weather strip because of our windows, but that's not really an issue with the unit. Once the unit was turned on, it didn't take long to notice the difference in temperature! I don't know how accurate the thermostat is on the unit (which is why I dinged it a star). For a while it was stuck at 80 degrees, but it honestly felt like it was under 75. It finally moved down to the mid 70s after a couple of days. This A/C unit can cool a room very quickly. We're using it for our living room right now, but we've noticed that it also helps keep the other rooms cooler. It also has a fan mode that is useful if you don't want to use the A/C. The unit itself rolls around easily. This is great since we can direct the airflow to the kitchen. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this as an A/C unit. I wish I had this in our place sooner. I have yet to try the Heater mode. Since it's portable, it looks like it will be very easy to store away. Read more
