I ordered this to put on my 18 month old grandson’s first “Big Boy Bed” to protect the mattress from accidental diaper leaks, bottle/sippy cup spills and any allergen’s that go with mattress usage. We have a memory foam mattress made for kids that is about 7” thick and because of the thinner mattress, it is rather baggy on it. If I was to guess the largest size mattress this would fit, I would say a 12” memory foam and or 10” hybrid or inter spring mattress. Going any thicker and I believe it would be very difficult to take on or off and would likely put alot of stress on the zipper. This mattress protector completely encases the entire mattress and closes with a zipper with 1 opening at the foot/head. It has a flap that flips over the zipper to conceal the zipper. It appears to be well made and the fabric seems to be good quality. So far we’ve only had one minor leaky diaper that didn’t soak through the protector however, it wasn’t a huge leak so I can’t say yet how “waterproof” this mattress protector is. Putting it on a lighter weight twin size mattress was super easy to do with the exception of a little boy wanting to “help” by sitting on the mattress while grandma was trying to put it on! ;-D I was able to put it on easily as 1 person. I would say sizes full-cal. King will need 2 people to accomplish. With all that said, in my opinion, this is a good purchase. The quality is very good, it had no overpowering smell, it was easy to put on a twin size mattress, it’s pretty quiet to move around on and after cuddling in bed with him, it doesn’t seem to trap heat or sleep hot. I’ll be purchasing more to put on the mattresses in my house. To make things a bit easier I plan on putting them on all beds and then adding an additional waterproof cooling mattress protector that only covers the top and sides to take off and wash when needed. It might be overkill but I want my mattresses protected without having to remove the 6 sided encasement every time I think it’d need it. I will update this review when a major spill or accident happens to review the waterproof/absorbency aspect of this product. Until then I am not completely the 1 through 5 star rating for that part. These advertise as 100% cotton and are packaged with an insert that states as much. See picture of the insert. However, that is where it ends. There are none of the expected tags attached that tell you the material composition or how to care for it. I went all over the pad looking for something to no avail. This is the primary reason for the 3-star rating. I will also be returning this item. I have no basis to confirm they are 100% cotton. Aside from this disparity, the pads appear well made and have adequate fill. The elastic is springy. I did not try to use these to evaluate the fit. Read more
