This stand reminds me of the monitor arms that I use for my PC monitors. It securely holds my phone in place and the arms can be moved around in many different directions to get the phone in the position you want it to be. I mostly use it to hold my phone while in the kitchen cooking and have the recipe appear on the phone screen. The item is very solid, and the base is heavy enough to prevent it from tipping over when on a flat surface. It is possible to position the arms in a way that would cause it to tip over but that should be easy enough to avoid. It also includes Allen wrenches that allow you to adjust the arms' movements. One thing I would like to see improved with this stand would be a way for it to work with USB cables that have a 90-degree bend. The charging cable I use for my phone has a 90-degree bend and it will not work with this stand because the openings on the grips that are meant for a charging cable to go through are too deep for one with a bend to reach the phone's USB port. Perhaps a notch could be added next to the opening which would allow the cable to reach the USB port of the phone. Another thing I want to point out is that if you're not using a skin or case on your phone/tablet the grip of this stand may not hold it in place when you turn it horizontally. I haven't done any long-term testing on this yet, but I have noticed that my main phone which has a silicone skin does not move around in the grip as easily as my older phone which doesn't have a skin or case. Overall, I am very satisfied with this stand. The problems I mentioned above won't be a problem for everyone, but I feel for my own use case it warrants docking a star. LOVE this stand! You do need to keep the tightening tool that came with it since it's not a normal sized alan wrench and any time you adjust the joints, it quickly loosens which is interesting but also allows for flexible posing. Holds the tablet/phone device very well and securely. Read more

Well, first off, this unit is overkill for a smartphone. No problems at all there. This unit is very sturdy and is easily adjusted. Heavy enough to stay in place. High enough for a low desk, even a coffee table or an outdoor bench. Would like more choices for color, but the unit is neutral enough. The ball-mount fixture behind the phone/tablet holder is fine. Having said that, I really wanted to use this for a new tablet. I was looking forward to getting back some desk space by not having my tablet angled by the case, but having it raised above my desk surface. No joy. It kept slipping down and down. They should have provided for the tablet the same way they provided for the smartphone-- hold it at the top and bottom, not across the sides. It's only a spring-loaded force keeping the tablet in place, which I can see getting looser with time. Nifty idea, but not executed properly for tablet applications. Be well. Be safe. Read more
