Knives in my house were all sharp enough, but I needed to sharpen one of my scissors. I originally used the scissors sharpening portion, but I felt like it wasn't doing the job, so I used the knife sharpeners to sharpen my scissors. I set the angle to 14 degrees, then ran each blade through "coarse" and "fine" a few dozen times each. (Yes, my scissors were very dull.) My scissors became noticeably sharper than before. I did notice that the blades on my scissors had lots of chips so I realized I would never be able to sharpen it back to its original state, but at least it worked well enough so that it is now sharp enough to use again. I've got an expensive knife sharpener, but some of my knives require non-standard angles that it just doesn't handle, so I wanted to try this out. The adjustment is super easy to use, and it sharpens very well. It also doesn't take up much space in your drawer. Great for use in between professional sharpening and everyday honing. Nonslip rubber on the bottom works well on non-wet surfaces. The angles to use are printed right on the side, which is convenient. (If you have high end knives, check with the manufacturer.) I wasn’t expecting to love this knife sharpener as much as I do, but it honestly makes such a difference. The adjustable angle knob is super easy to use.. I like that it has the 16° setting for Nulu knives, but it also works great on all my regular kitchen knives too. I tried it on a few really dull ones, and they were slicing through tomatoes like new again. The handle is comfortable to hold and feels sturdy, and I like that it has the non slip pads so it doesn’t slide around while you’re using it. I also appreciate the different sharpening stages.. tungsten for the first pass, ceramic for honing, and even a slot for scissors, which actually works really well! If you have many knives that are now so dull they can't cut butter (like mine), it is time to get a sharpener. This sharpener has 3 different ways to sharpen depending on your needs. I was not familiar with using a sharpener however, this has instructions on the outside of the box on how to use it. The unit has rubber pieces on the bottom to help hold it firmly to your counter or table. I tested this with the first knife using the first slot and pulled it in one direction. after about 10 passes, I tested the knife and it made a big difference. I was able to cut some raw meat with ease. Why did I wait so long? This did a great job on my home knife. The only issue I had was that the directions did not state which of the slots to use for particular types of knives. However, a quick online search helped me with that. I haven't owned a knife and scissor sharpener like this one and I love it. The first thing I did was to sharpen some very inexpensive scissors that had dulled to the point that I couldn't cut string in my kitchen as I needed to.
